Paralives pregnancy: how to have a baby

Yes. Pregnancy is in the Early Access version of Paralives. A Young Adult or older Para with the right setting can get pregnant, carry the baby for three trimesters, and give birth at home.

Paralives came out in Early Access on Steam on May 25, 2026. The Steam page lists “have children” as a key feature. The Development page of the studio lists “Having children” and “Aging and death” as available features. For the full history, read our Paralives release date guide.

The studio does not publish a pregnancy guide. Most of the details below come from the community wiki at paralives.wiki.gg. We say where a fact comes only from a fan guide. We checked all pages on October 30, 2026. The studio can change these systems in any update.

Who can get pregnant?

You choose this in the Paramaker. The wiki lists three pregnancy options: “Can get pregnant,” “Can get others pregnant,” and “Neither.” The wiki lists them as optional gender features. Click the three dots next to the gender to find them.

Each Para that the game makes for the town gets this setting when it appears. The wiki says that you can change the setting later with the EDITCHARACTER cheat. Dexerto says that you cannot change it after the Para joins a household, so set it before you leave the Paramaker. Our guide to the Paramaker shows the other advanced options.

Make two Paras close, get them to agree on a baby, then select both and click a bed. Choose “Try for Baby.” The wiki gives these requirements.

1. Both Paras are Young Adults or older.
2. One Para has “Can get pregnant.” The other has “Can get others pregnant.”
3. The two Paras share a hidden label, Level 2 Intimacy Partners. Repeated intimacy gives this label, at an advanced level of romantic interest.

There is a second way to get the label. Lovers can use the Together Card “Ask if they want to have children together in the future.” If the answer is yes, they also get the Future Co-Parents label. Marriage is not necessary, according to Sims Community.

Is there a faster way?

Yes. The wiki says that a Para can have the Want “Try to have a baby with [name]” or the Life Goal Let’s Have a Baby. If the two Paras are Lovers, they can then use the Together Card “Ask if they want to try for a baby NOW.”

Why is Try for Baby not showing?

Fan guides give the same common causes. We could not test them, so treat them as a checklist:

• You selected only one Para. Select both, then click the bed.
• You clicked the shower. The shower option “Get intimate” does not start a pregnancy.
• Both Paras have the same pregnancy option, or one has “Neither.”
• The relationship is not strong enough yet. Keep the Paras together until they are Lovers.

How do you take a pregnancy test?

Click a toilet and choose the pregnancy test. The wiki gives the two results. A negative test says that the Para “is not pregnant.” A positive test says “Prepare the baby’s room!”

The test is optional. Without it, the Para finds out at the start of the second trimester. Each try can fail. Sims Community lists a 50% chance for each try in all three default Storytellers. If the test is negative, try for a baby again.

With the default settings, a pregnancy lasts 63 in-game hours, then labor lasts 2 hours. That is 65 hours from the start to the birth. The wiki lists three trimesters of 21 hours each.

Before the Para knows, the wiki says that morning sickness shows as “Feeling Dizzy.” After the test, it shows as “Morning Sickness.”

Why do guides give other lengths?

Some fan guides say 24 hours, and Dexerto says three in-game days. We trust the wiki and the Storyteller settings. Sims Community listed the three default Storytellers in May 2026. All three use a trimester of 21 hours and labor of 2 hours.

You can change both numbers. The Storyteller and its custom settings control the chance to get pregnant, the trimester length, the labor length, and the chance of twins. Open your Storyteller settings to see the real numbers in your save.

What does a pregnant Para look like?

The belly grows each trimester, according to Sims Community. The wiki says that pregnant Paras have their own walk. Sims Community says that no maternity clothes are necessary.

The Para gives birth at home, with no hospital trip. You can have twins or triplets, and the chance depends on your Storyteller.

When labor starts, the game shows “[name] is going into labor!” The Together Card “AAAAAAHHHH!” also becomes available. At the end of labor, the game shows “[name] gave birth! Congratulations!” Then the profile of the baby opens. You can change the first name and pick the surname of a parent or a custom surname.

The wiki Health page says that births in Early Access need no medical help. The Death page says that a pregnant Para cannot die.

What are the chances of twins and triplets?

Sims Community took these numbers from the game settings in May 2026. Pick Maxence, or raise the chance in a custom Storyteller, if you want more babies at once.

Dexerto says that a visit to a health center tells you if twins or triplets are on the way. CCStartup says that a scan there can show the gender. The wiki does not mention either scan.

There is also a cheat. Our list of Paralives cheats has the commands that start a pregnancy with a set number of babies and that start the birth now.

Yes to both. Adoption is free, and the Paramaker lets you make a baby from the start. These are the two ways to get a baby without a pregnancy.

How do you adopt?

1. Send a Young Adult, Adult, or Elder to the Hospital.
2. Choose “Adopt baby.”
3. Wait 2 hours while the Para is inside.
4. The Para comes back with a random baby. Give the baby a name.

The wiki says that adoption costs nothing, so a family with 0 paradimes can adopt. The household must have space. The limit is 8 Paras for each household. The pregnancy options in the Paramaker do not matter for adoption, according to Dexerto.

Fan guides list two limits. Sims Community says that a couple cannot adopt together, because the game sees only the Para who acts. CCStartup says that you cannot give a baby up for adoption. You also cannot adopt an older child yet.

How do you make a baby in the Paramaker?

Choose the Baby life stage when you make a new Para. The wiki says that the life stage locks after you create the Para. Babies and toddlers have their own clothes, and they have no height slider.

Keep a Teenager or older Para near the baby at all times. Babies and toddlers cannot meet any need without help from an older Para.

Babies

The wiki says that babies have their own set of needs, with an Affection need. Each need bar has only 6 sections, so a baby gets upset fast. Sims Community lists love, sleep, diaper changes, and food. The other Paras in the house check on the baby on their own. Sims Community says that you often must order the diaper change yourself.

• Feeding. Pick up the baby first. The Paramaker has a breastfeeding option. CCStartup says that either parent can give a bottle.
• Diapers. Put the baby in a crib or on the floor. CCStartup says the option does not show while a Para holds the baby.
• Sleep. Put the baby in a crib.
• Language. This is the only skill of a baby. It goes up when the baby is in a group with older Paras who use Together Cards.

Babies have emotions but no Wants and no personality. They do not get traits from their parents. The personality grows as they age.

Toddlers

Toddlers crawl or walk, play with toys, and learn two skills. Language works as it does for babies. The Potty skill goes up each time the toddler uses a potty. Each need bar has 8 sections.

• Food. Buy a high chair. Carry the toddler, then choose “Feed in high chair.” Take the toddler out after the meal.
• Sleep. Toddlers cannot sleep in a crib. Buy the toddler bed from the children’s section, according to CCStartup.
• Toilet. Use diapers or the toddler potty from the children’s items in Build Mode.

What is daycare?

If no Teenager or older Para is home, the game sends babies and toddlers to daycare. They come back when a Teenager or older member of the household is free. Sims Community says that daycare adds a small fee to the weekly bills.

Paralives has eight life stages, from Baby to Elder. A new baby becomes a toddler after 3 in-game days with the default settings.

The wiki says that version 0.1.7 made the adult stages longer and the young stages shorter. Children, preteens, and teenagers also get growth spurts at set points.

Can you turn off aging?

Yes. Turn off aging in the Storyteller settings. You can set it separately for your household and for the other Paras in town. Sims Community also lists a short, normal, or long setting for the length of the life stages. Without aging, growth spurts do not happen.

When do Paras die of old age?

The wiki says that an Elder dies of old age at 100 or older. You cannot kill a Para with an interaction. The game has no ghosts and no life after death.

IVF, other medical ways to have a baby, and the adoption of older children are not in the game. Sims Community says that these may come later. The studio has not confirmed them.

• Baby and toddler furniture is limited, according to Sims Community.
• The family does not react to the pregnancy or the birth yet, according to Sims Community.
• Babies have only three actions of their own: sleep, shake the rattle, and cry.
• You cannot give a baby up for adoption, according to CCStartup.
• The family tree is on the plan for Early Access, but the studio does not show it as done.

The studio says that Early Access lasts about two years. It works on the first major update for the end of 2026. The Development page does not say if that update changes families. See the Paralives roadmap for the full list, or what we know about pets, another planned feature.

Many players say that the babies look strange. A Reddit post in May 2026 blamed the body proportions, and many players agreed. Sims Community found no answer from the studio. You can send feedback on the official form at paralives.com/gamefeedback.

Can two Paras of the same gender have a baby?

Yes, if one Para has “Can get pregnant” and the other has “Can get others pregnant.” You set these options for each Para in the Paramaker. Any couple can also adopt.

Do the Paras need to be married?

No. Sims Community says that marriage is not necessary to try for a baby.

Can teenagers get pregnant in Paralives?

No. The wiki says that both Paras must be Young Adults or older.

Do you need to go to the hospital to give birth?

No. The Para gives birth at home after 2 hours of labor.

Can you choose the gender of the baby?

We found no way in the wiki. CCStartup says that a scan at a health center can show the gender before the birth.

Do babies look like their parents?

The studio says that its genetics system makes children from two parents. Personality traits do not pass to the baby, according to the wiki.

Is Paralives worth it for families?

No. LifeSim is free in any web browser and on iPhone, and you live one life on a real map. It has no pregnancy, no packs, and nothing to buy.
