Paralives jobs and careers

Paralives jobs explained: the 11 career domains, how to get a job, application points, rabbit-hole work, skills, and the careers roadmap.

Yes. Jobs and careers are in the Early Access build of Paralives. The Development page of the studio lists “Work (rabbit holes)”, “Career progression”, and “Skills” as features that are available now.

Paralives came out in Early Access on Steam on May 25, 2026. The Steam page says: “Find a job and try out flexible career progression paths.” A Parafolk can work in art, healthcare, music, science, software, and more.

Your Para does not do the work on screen. The work happens inside the building, out of view. More jobs are planned for Early Access, but the studio gives no date for them.

We opened every page in the list of sources on October 21, 2026. The job lists come from fan guides and a fan wiki, because the studio publishes no official list. You are on the LifeSim blog. We make a different game, and we say where it does not fit.

The Paralives Wiki lists 11 career domains. A domain is a group of jobs in one field. Each job belongs to a real workplace in the town of Melino.

The table shows example jobs for each domain. Sims Community saw these postings on day one of a new save. The Sims Tree saw some others. Postings change every day, so your list can differ.

A job title does not always match its domain. The wiki gives an example: a Receptionist at the Museum is in the Art domain. Some jobs also show in two domains. Sims Community lists the Hospital Programmer under both Software Development and Healthcare.

How much do Paralives jobs pay?

Both guides show 250 Paradimes a day for a rank 1 job. The pay goes up with the rank. On day one, Sims Community saw a rank 35 Product Manager at 1,470 a day. The Sims Tree lists a rank 36 restaurant manager at 1,500 a day.

The Sims Tree says that Software Development has the highest-paying postings. Treat all numbers as a rough guide. They come from the first weeks of Early Access, and later patches can change them.

Open the job postings, and pick a job that your Para qualifies for. The Sims Tree lists three ways to open the postings.

  1. Select the Para, choose “Use Phone…”, and then choose “Find a Job”.
  2. Use “Find a Job” on a computer. The town hall and the library have free computers.
  3. Click a job board in the town. The boards open the same list.

The Sims Tree says that there is no interview. The Para gets the job at once and starts on the next work day. Sometimes a townie also offers a job in a talk, but the guide says that this is rare.

What are application points?

Each posting has a rank. A higher rank needs more application points. The Sims Tree says that the points needed usually equal the rank, so rank 12 needs 12 points. A rank 1 job needs no points.

Your Para gets points from three things: skill levels, work experience in the field, and traits such as charisma. The wiki says that the Para needs only the total, across all listed skills. A few jobs also need a minimum in one main skill.

Hover over a posting to see the points of your Para and the skills that they lack. With enough points, your Para can start high. The Sims Community writer got a rank 16 graphic design job in one in-game week.

Can a Para have more than one job?

Yes, if the work hours do not clash. The wiki says that a Para can hold up to 3 occupations, and school counts as one. The game warns you before you accept a job that clashes. Teens can take a job only if it fits the High School schedule.

Each career offers three time slots and three day patterns, according to Sims Community. You can change the schedule at any time. To quit, open the Occupations tab with the briefcase icon, and choose “Quit Job”.

For the same steps in other games, read how to get a job in The Sims 4 and the inZOI careers guide.

Work in Paralives is a rabbit hole. The studio says so on its Development page: “Work (rabbit holes)”. The wiki says that all workplaces are rabbit holes and that the game has no active careers.

Your Para goes to a real building in Melino, then goes out of view. You cannot follow the Para inside to do tasks. The Sims Tree calls the work “off-screen”.

What can you control during work?

You cannot play the shift, but you can change how it goes. The guides list these controls.

  • Work stances. “Normal” and “Hardworking” are two of them. “Hardworking” gives more performance but uses more energy.
  • Daily tasks. Most jobs have one. A done task gives a performance bonus.
  • Mood and needs. A tired or angry Para works worse.
  • Storyteller cards. Each night, a card offers a bonus for the next day. Some give faster skill gain, extra pay, or an upgrade point.

How do promotions and strikes work?

A good day at work can give an upgrade point. You spend it in the career tab. The three choices are a rank up, a perk, or an other bonus. The Sims Tree says that promotions are not automatic.

Bad performance for too long gives a strike. The Sims Tree says that three strikes get the Para fired. You see the performance in the work panel beside the needs.

What did the patches change for work?

  • Patch 0.1.5, July 2, 2026: a Para who cancels “Go To Work” is late and gets a performance penalty.
  • Patch 0.1.6, July 16, 2026: a new job starts with vacation days. Paras collect more days as they work. They can ask for days off or paid leave over the phone.
  • Patch 0.1.6 also made Paras learn skills faster at town events.
  • Patch 0.1.9, October 8, 2026: students can take extra classes after school, and homework comes more often. The strikes panel is hidden for students, because they cannot get strikes.

Read the Paralives patch notes post for the other changes in each patch.

Skills add application points, so they open higher jobs. The Skills page of the wiki says: “Skills are taken into account when looking at job postings.” It adds that skills are not only for work.

The wiki groups the skills by knowledge. Music has Guitar, Piano, and Triangle. Technology has Graphic Design and Programming. Science has Astronomy, Biology, and Surgery. Food has Cooking, Fitness has Exercise and Dance, and Art has Painting.

Skills help, but they are not the only path. Sims Community says that promotions do not depend on skills alone. The writer got two promotions without the art skill that the job asked for.

The Biology skill

Biology is a Science skill. Allthings.how lists four research jobs at the University Research Lab that use it. The Sims Tree also lists biology for the Systems Engineer job at the hospital.

Biology is hard to raise today. The skill text points to study on the computer. The wiki says that the only known way is through some work perks. Allthings.how names two perks, Medical Field Work and Observant Janitor. Each raises Biology slowly during the shift.

The Language skill

The wiki lists Language as a skill for babies and toddlers. Its text says: “Babies and Toddlers need to learn how to talk.” We found no job that uses it. Patch 0.1.6 stopped adults from wanting to level up the Speech and Potty skills.

The roadmap promises more jobs, but no active careers. The Development page lists “More personality traits, wants, emotions, jobs, etc” under the features planned for Early Access. The Steam page lists the same line.

The studio gives no date for the new jobs. In October 2026, the Development page says that the team works on the first major update. It is planned for the end of 2026. The studio does not say what the update contains.

Patch 0.1.9 calls itself mostly bug fixes and minor additions, while the team works on that update. Hotfix 0.1.9b followed on October 16, 2026.

Will Paralives get active careers?

We found no official plan for active careers. The roadmap does not list them. The studio made no promise of them on the pages that we opened.

LifeSim does not fit if you want a career ladder. It has no ranks, no salary, and no perks. Paralives is the better choice for that.

LifeSim is a free life sim in the browser. You live one life in a real city on a 3D map of Earth. Each person in the city has a job, a home, and a routine. You talk to them in your own words, and they remember you. Read how LifeSim plays.

Paralives is also the better choice to design houses. Read the Paralives build mode guide for those tools.

Does Paralives have careers?

Yes. Careers with ranks, perks, and promotions are in the Early Access build.

How many jobs are in Paralives?

The studio gives no number. The wiki lists 11 domains. Postings change every day, so the guides show different lists.

Can you follow your Para to work in Paralives?

No. All work is a rabbit hole. The Para goes into the building, and the shift happens out of view.

Can teens get a job in Paralives?

Yes, if the job fits the High School schedule. The Sims Tree says that these are usually low-paid Service jobs.

Do you need skills to get a job?

Not for a rank 1 job. Higher ranks need application points, and skills give many of those points.

Can a Para get fired?

Yes. Bad performance gives strikes. The Sims Tree says that three strikes get the Para fired.

Can mods add jobs?

The game supports the Steam Workshop. We did not check for job mods. Read Paralives mods for the install steps.
