Paralives release date

Paralives is out in Early Access. What you get, what is missing, and what comes next.

Paralives entered Early Access on May 25, 2026. It runs on Windows and macOS, and you buy it on Steam. The developers say they need about two years before version 1.0.

So the game is out, but it is not finished. This post explains what that means, what you get today, and what is still missing. Every fact comes from a page that we opened on October 1, 2026.

Alex Massé started the game in January 2019. He announced it in June 2019, according to Wikipedia. At first he worked alone.

Players paid for the work through Patreon. Wikipedia says the Patreon had over 15,000 supporters in November 2023. By June 2025, the team had grown to 14 people and formed Paralives Studio.

The date moved one time. The first plan was late 2025. The studio announced the delay to May 25, 2026 in November 2025.

No. Paralives is a paid game. It costs money on Steam.

The price is an Early Access price. Gamebrief reports that the studio says the price rises gradually as the team adds content. Steam says the same: the Early Access discount ends at version 1.0. A player who buys early pays the lowest price that the game will ever have.

The studio made one more promise. It will never sell paid DLC. The Steam page says the team will release only free patches, during Early Access and after the full release. That is a big difference from The Sims 4, where the base game is free and the packs cost money.

We do not print the price here. Prices change. Open the Steam page to see the current number.

Build a house

The official site lists grid-less building, curved walls, resizable objects, split-level floors, custom stairs, and full color and texture control. This is the strongest part of the game.

Make a character

The character creator is advanced. Gamebrief notes that it makes asymmetric faces, so two characters can look very different.

Live in a town

The town is open. Players can follow a career, build relationships, and move around the town. Gamebrief says the career system is not linear, and that travel across the town takes real time. The Steam page also lists Steam Workshop support for community content.

The Steam page lists what the team plans to add during Early Access: weather, seasons, pets, vehicles, boats, swimming, event planning, NPC progression, family trees, gardening, fishing, and town creation tools.

None of these features has a date. Gamebrief notes that a patch in August 2026 focused on speed and not on new content. Do not buy the game for a feature that is on the list. Buy it for what the game does today.

This is normal for Early Access. It is also a real cost. If you need a pet, a car, or a season in the first week, wait.

Early Access means that the game is on sale before it is complete. You play the current version. The team adds the rest in patches.

This has three effects. The game can have bugs. Some features are missing. Your saves can break when the team changes a system. The Gamebrief article says that one patch, in August 2026, focused on speed. That is a sign of a team that fixes the base first.

It also has one benefit. The team keeps a channel open with its players on Discord, so a player who reports a problem can reach the team.

Read the Steam page for the current patch notes before you buy. They show how fast the team works.

The official site lists the channels of the team: Discord, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. The team uses Discord to talk with players.

The site also says that Paralives grew with the support of the community. Patreon paid for the first years of work. Wikipedia reports that the Patreon had over 15,000 supporters in November 2023.

Watch the Steam page for patch notes. A patch note is the best source for a new feature, because it states what changed on that day. A rumor on a forum is not a source.

Wikipedia reports that the game sold 250,000 copies in 8 hours and reached 1 million copies in the first month. Gamebrief reports that Steam reviews were 90% positive at launch, and that the recent score was lower after three months.

Read both numbers. A high launch score shows early excitement. A lower recent score often shows that players found gaps. That is the pattern of a game that is still growing. We did not read the live score, so open the Steam page to see it today.

Start with the free game if you are not sure. Choose Paralives if the building tools are the reason that you play. For more choices, read games like The Sims.

Paralives is not on a console. The studio lists Windows and macOS on Steam. If you play on a console, this game does not fit you yet.

Buy it now if the building tools and the character creator are what you came for. Wait if you need a feature from the list of missing items.

The facts support both choices. The price rises as the game grows, so an early buyer pays less. The roadmap has no dates, so an early buyer also waits. Gamebrief calls the game a solid foundation that is incomplete.

Use this check. Write down the three things that you will do in the first week. If the game does them today, buy it. If one of them is on the roadmap, wait for that feature.

Do not buy because of the sales number. A large number of buyers shows interest. It does not show that the game has the features that you need.

LifeSim does not compete with Paralives on building. LifeSim has no house editor. It is a free game in the browser, on a real map of Earth, and you talk to the people in it.

If you love to design rooms, Paralives is the better choice. If you love to talk to people who remember you, try LifeSim. Read the best life sim games to match a game to your style.
