The price will go up. Steam says that the developers expect to raise it step by step during early access, as they add content. TheSimsTree says that the price reaches full price at version 1.0. So the cheapest time to buy is now, if you want it at all.

No. The developers made a promise on Steam: “There will only ever be free updates!” TheSimsTree quotes a similar line: “The game will never have paid DLC – only free updates.”

Steam lists no DLC for Paralives today. The planned updates are free. TheSimsTree lists them: weather and seasons, a calendar and a family tree, dogs, cats, and horses, vehicles and boats, swimming, gardening and fishing, and social events such as parties and weddings.

It is early access. Steam lists the date of early access as 25 May 2026. The developers estimate that early access will last about two years. They warn that you should expect some bugs and some missing content.

TheSimsTree lists what the game had on the first day. Live mode had an open town with no loading screens, careers, personality and needs, relationships, aging, death, and children. Build mode had colours, curved walls, split levels, floors, stairs, and roofs. The character tool had sliders, tattoos, clothing layers, and genetics. Modding tools were ready on day one.

Steam is the store. The game is for Windows and for Mac. The Mac version needs an Apple chip, with an M2 as the minimum and an M3 as the recommended chip. The FAQ says that the game will not come to phones or tablets. It says that no console versions are planned now, and that the developers consider them for the future.

Steam lists these needs for Windows. Minimum: Windows 10, a Core i5 or Ryzen 5 at 2.5 GHz, 12 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060 or RX 6600 XT. Recommended: Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM, and an RTX 2060 or RX 7600 XT. The game needs 8 GB of storage.

Steam lists eight languages: English, French, Italian, German, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, and Simplified Chinese.

LifeSim

LifeSim is free to play in a browser, with no in-app purchases. It is not like Paralives. It has no house builder. You live one life in a real city, and the people there answer you in their own words.

Buy now if these are true:

• You like the build tools and want them today.
• You accept bugs and missing content.
• You want the lowest price, because the price will rise.

Wait if these are true:

• You want pets, cars, or seasons now. The developers plan them, but the game does not have them yet.
• You want a finished game. Early access is planned for about two years.
• You play on a console. No console version is planned.
