How to become or cure a vampire
You have a few ways to make a vampire in The Sims 4. You can select Add Vampire when you make a new Sim in Create a Sim. During gameplay, you can ask a vampire with the Vampire Creation power to turn your Sim.
If you want to return to a normal Sim life, you must make a special drink. Build the Vampire Lore skill to level 15 to unlock the cure recipe. Make the cure for 2,500 Simoleons and tell your Sim to drink it.
You can also use cheats in Live mode to add or remove the occult trait. Open the cheat console and type testingcheats true first. Then enter traits.equip_trait trait_OccultVampire to turn your Sim, or traits.remove_trait trait_OccultVampire to cure them.
Which powers to buy first and their costs
Early powers cost very few power points and give useful perks. Detect Personality, Bat Form, and Eternally Welcome each cost 2 power points. Garlic Immunity and Cast Hallucination only cost 1 power point each.
You can also start multi-level perk chains early on. Occult Student costs 1 power point for the first level, 2 for Occult Disciple, and 3 for Occult Master. If you want to turn other Sims, save 3 power points for Vampire Creation.
Saving points lets you buy survival perks later. Sun Resistance costs 5 power points for each of its 3 levels, while Mist Form and Tamed Thirst cost 6 power points each. Remember that gaining new ranks also forces you to spend weakness points on negative perks like Day Phobia or Thin Skinned, which cost 1 weakness point per level.
How vampire ranks, the moon, and aging work
Your vampire starts as a Fledgling Vampire and climbs through 17 progress levels. Reaching level 4 makes you a Minor Vampire at 202 total points, giving 2 power points and 1 weakness point. You reach Prime Vampire at level 8, Master Vampire at level 12, and Grand Master at level 16 with 1,486 total points.
The top of the rank meter requires 1,593 total points. As you play, pay attention to the moon phases in the sky. During a New Moon, your Sim gets a Vampiric Energy Regeneration boost for 12 hours.
The Vampire trait stops your Sim from aging once they reach the Young Adult stage. This protects your Sim from Death by Old Age, along with Death by Anger, Embarrassment, Laughter, and Overexertion. However, you must still watch out for Death by Sunlight.
