What are the right answers to the Civil Designer chance cards in The Sims 4?
Sims 4 Civil Designer chance cards: every answer
The Civil Designer career has 6 chance cards. Here is every card, each choice, and what it can lead to, with its odds and its effect on job performance, from the game files. On 1 of them, one choice is best for job performance.
Voting Irregularities
Your Sim is doing an audit of some Community Space Project voting patterns, and discovers that the votes for a recently enacted Project were incorrectly counted! Will the public be angry about that Community Garden instead of a Marketplace, or will they not care?
Confess Error
- 50%: A string of recent errors compounded by this easy to avoid mistake causes a lack of confidence in the planning authorities. Your Sim's boss gives them a stern telling off and warning about future mistakes. (job performance −10)
- 50%: The local community really appreciates your Sim's honesty and their trust is increased! (no job performance change)
Cover it Up
- 50%: Your Sim's boss did a secondary audit and saw their clumsy cover up. Your Sim is in hot water! (job performance −10)
- 50%: Your Sim's subterfuge pays off. A gift from the company that manages the Community Garden trickles down as a bonus for your Sim. (+§500)
Lost Surveying Equipment
Your Sim installed some expensive surveying equipment along the local riverbank to gauge flood defense building, but a colossal storm swept through and it has been washed away. Maybe they could have been more careful about its placement, or checked the weather forecast?
Blame the Weather
- 50%: With a large write-off for lost equipment, the planning department finds your Sim incompetent in not researching a better place for the monitoring gear. (job performance −10)
- 50%: With such unpredictable recent weather, your Sim's boss can't blame them for the equipment loss, but recognises that future planning should include weather contingency. (job performance +7)
Blame the Placement
- 50%: The bill for the lost equipment is significant, losing your Sim their next performance bonus. A lesson hopefully learned. (no job performance change)
- 50%: When the equipment was washed away, the loss of signal caused a general alarm to be raised which forewarns local properties of the flood, giving them time to save their possessions. Your Sim is hailed as a hero! (no job performance change)
Revolutionary Power Saving Device!
Your Sim has developed a new product that hugely decreases power consumption of popular electronics with no loss of performance. After enthusiastically supporting the invention, Lean Green Design Co-Op discovers a way that reduces the eco-credentials for more profit. As the inventor should your Sim agree or disagree with this?
Disagree
- 50%: Lean Green Design Co-Op is unhappy with your Sim's stubborn resistance to their excellent suggestions, and withdraws their support. (no job performance change)
- 50%: Pushing for maximum eco-benefit pays off! Your Sim's product is hailed as a revolution. (no job performance change)
Support
- 50%: News gets out that the product does not deliver on the original design promise. Your Sim's reputation takes the hit. (no job performance change)
- 50%: Despite the reduced efficiency, customers are still delighted with results! Your Sim's bonus is assured. (+§400)
Flawed Installation
As a qualified Green Technician, your Sim has been involved in a project to improve the water quality to the local neighborhood. He/She discovers that the technology might be flawed and may even cause damage to Sim's homes! This is a big contract, so should they stop installing or carry on?
Best for job performance: Carry on Installations.
Carry on Installations
- 50%: Your Sim's credibility takes a hammering when customers houses start flooding. It will take a while to build up that trust again... (no job performance change)
- 50%: Due in no small part to your Sim's skill as an engineer, the effect of the technology flaw is minimized. (job performance +7)
Stop Installations
- 50%: With this delay, Sims are seeking out other Green Technicians to install their solutions. Sadly, this is causing a loss of business for your Sim (no job performance change)
- 50%: In revealing the flaws in the process and offering to fix existing problems, your Sim has gained a lot of credibility in the neighborhood. (no job performance change)
Green or Grey
Your Sim is involved in the reconstruction of a derelict lot. The lot is in a prime position, and petitions have been submitted for a shiny new miniaturized nuclear power facility (safe, cheap and infinite energy for all) or an eco-park (combining beauty, water reclamation and green space all-in-one). Do they banish power problems forever, or build a peaceful eco-oasis?
Power Plant
- 50%: Your Sim feels the backlash of the protests against such an irresponsible decision to house a potentially dangerous hazard so close to residential housing. This does not go unnoticed by your Sim's boss. (job performance −20; moodlet: Work Annoyance)
- 50%: Sims love the cheap power and skilled jobs on offer at the plant. A bonus is on the way to your Sim's bank account! (+§500)
Green Park
- 50%: While having a green park nearby might benefit the local wildlife, locals are incensed about the loss of cheap energy and skilled jobs. (no job performance change)
- 50%: Your Sim's eco-credentials in the community are nailed on with their decision to designate the lot as a green haven. (no job performance change)
Town Hall of the Future
Your Sim has designed a radical new vision for Town Hall. With a solar spire and water reclamation technologies, this civic building looks like a cross between a cathedral and a base on the Moon! It is bold, but is it too bold?
Push the Vision
- 50%: The people are outraged. Why do they need a new Town Hall at astronomical cost that looks like a cheap sci-fi movie set? Your Sim is not popular with his/her boss right now... (job performance −20; moodlet: Work Annoyance)
- 50%: What a radical approach! Plaudits flood in for the brave design decisions which gains attention on the global stage. Your Sim is lauded. (job performance +15)
Scale it Back
- 50%: Images from the original design are leaked on Simstagram. The community can't believe an opportunity for such a landmark has been missed. (no job performance change)
- 50%: Realizing that this community might not be quite ready for this level of innovation, your Sim scales back the design to something much safer and more boring. Reception among more conservative Sims is positive! (no job performance change)
The odds are the game's: each result of a choice has the same weight unless a skill or trait test changes it, as noted. The effect in brackets is what the result's loot does. "Best for job performance" is the choice with the highest expected change, shown only when every chance on the card is known.
