What are the right answers to the Scout chance cards in The Sims 4?

Sims 4 Scout chance cards: every answer

The Scout career has 11 chance cards. Here is every card, each choice, and what it can lead to, with its odds and its effect on job performance, from the game files. Most choices depend on a skill, a trait or a coin flip.

A Lesson in Planning

As custom has it, every scout takes turns planning the weekly scouting activity. And this week it's finally your Sim's turn. Does he/she have the planning prowess to impress the troop?

Take the Time to Plan

  • 100%: Your Sim's troop loved the creative outing he/she planned! This is one for the Troop's record books! (moodlet: Joy of Scouting)

It's Just For Fun. Wing It!

  • 50%: Your Sim's poorly planned activity just barely scraped by. It wasn't the worst weekend the troop had experienced, but it sure was close. Your Sim is off the hook until next time. (no job performance change)
  • 50%: Shambles! Absolute Shambles! Not only was your Sim's activity completely un-fun, but as a result of his/her poor planning, now his/her troop's tree house is infested with rabid squirrels. (moodlet: Tense Trooper)

Who's the Badge Boss?

There's a big deal kid in your Sim's troop who's renowned for his impressive badge collection. Your Sim's recent accomplishments has made him/her feel like his/her collection might be getting bigger than his. Should your Sim take an opportunity this week to compare who has more badges?

Show Him Who's Badge Boss.

  • 50%: In your face, Kid! Your Sim does, in fact have the most badges in the troop and has gained the title of Badge Boss. (moodlet: Scouting Spunk)
  • 50%: Woops, turns out this kid is an Expert Scout and your Sim is still far from the mark. At least he/she's earned the value of modesty with this brash move. (moodlet: Scouting Slip-Up)

Be Modest.

  • 50%: Sure, your Sim has a badge or two more than the other kid, but he/she sees no reason to rub it in. (no job performance change)
  • 50%: Your Sim might have been a little too meek with the badge comparison. Now nobody can appreciate what an amazing Scout he/she is. (no job performance change)

Beachy Clean

For this week's outing, your Sim's troop is going to the beach to clean up litter. Is your Sim feeling that his/her hands are too sensitive for this type of nasty task, or should he/she go help out?

Just Go. That's Why Gloves Were Invented.

  • 50%: What a fun day! Your Sim can't believe he/she would have ever considered missing it. (moodlet: Scouting Spirit)
  • 50%: Bummer, looks like your Sim spent too much time protecting his/her hands and not enough time protecting his/her skin from harmful UV rays. This sunburn's going to itch all week! (no job performance change)

Pretend to Be Sick. Save Those Hands.

  • 100%: Bad call for your Sim. Last weekend's epic beach trip was the only thing the other Scouts could talk about at school. They helped a beached whale back out to sea, dug up a mermaid skeleton, and happened to be there on Free Ice Cream Day. Maybe next weekend's outing will be fun too? (moodlet: Scouting Blues)

Dirty Dogs

It's a hot dog smorgasboard! Your Sim has been put in charge of the grilling and he/she toasted those weenies to perfection: a slight blackening on the outside, sizzling juiciness on the inside. With an unfortunate turn of events, he/she tripped on a wild rabid raccoon on the way to the picnic table and dropped the whole plate of hot dogs on the ground. No one seems to have noticed. Quick, what should your Sim do?

Five Second Rule! Just Dust Them Off.

  • 100%: That might have been five seconds too much. Thanks to your Sim's sloppy servings, the entire troop has come down with food poisoning. Your Sim has learned the valuable lesson that it doesn't always pay to cut corners. Hopefully the troop members can make a full recovery. (no job performance change)

Go Back to the Grill and Make Fresh Hot Dogs.

  • 100%: Those doggies were worth the wait! Perfectly crisp, deliciously devoid of dirt and pine needles. Your Sim may have found his/her calling. (no job performance change)

A Froggy Offense

Kids will be kids. One of the more rambunctious scouts of the bunch has a grand idea to put a bunch of frogs in your scout leader's sleeping bag. It's just harmless fun, right? Should your Sim join in the prank?

Join in On the Prank.

  • 50%: Luckily your Sim's scout leader has a sense of humor. The scouts that played the trick might not want to leave their own sleeping bags unattended for a while, though. (no job performance change)
  • 50%: Surprisingly, the Scout Leader didn't think being covered in frog slime was very funny. Parents have been notified. Hopefully the punishment will be mild. (no job performance change)

Give the Scout Leader Some Forewarning.

  • 50%: Your Sim's Scout Leader was very thankful for the heads up and used a backup sleeping bag instead. The night was uneventful, but at least no one got slimed. (no job performance change)
  • 50%: Your Sim should really learn to lighten up! The Scout Leader was disappointed with your Sim for killing some good fun. Maybe next time the shenanigans can come to fruition if everybody can keep a harmless secret. (no job performance change)

A Buttery Barter

The Scouts are selling cookies, of course! While out in the neighborhood your Sim happens to notice that the selling price seems a bit lower than he/she remembers. The troop is trying to raise money for new fishing poles so they don't all have to take turns anymore. What should your Sim do about it?

Hike the Price.

  • 50%: Your Sim's pricing scheme paid off. The cookie customers were elated with the gooey goodness and some even claimed they would have paid twice the price! (moodlet: Joy of Scouting)
  • 50%: Your Sim's been caught red-handed. A fiscally observant old woman noticed that the scout troop she met yesterday was selling their cookies at a noticably lower price. She spread word to the whole neighborhood that your Sim's cookies were a bad value. (moodlet: Tense Trooper)

Keep the Listed Price and Turn on the Charm.

  • 100%: Good thing your Sim maintained integrity in the cookie-selling tradition. Even with the lower cost, customers couldn't resist your Sim's million-dollar smile and bought mountains of his/her delicious cookies. (moodlet: Joy of Scouting)

Torn Uniform

A crisply pressed, meticulously cleaned uniform is the badge of a true scout. So naturally your Sim is feeling a little distressed after accidently ripping his/her uniform on the way to this week's Scout Meet. It was just some innocent roughhousing! How will he/she avoid utter mortification?

Repair It With Dental Floss.

  • 50%: Seems your Sim is a natural-born tailor! Nobody even noticed his/her uniform had any damage. (no job performance change)
  • 50%: Sometimes it's just not possible to fix what is beyond repair. Your Sim's attempt at patching his/her uniform with dental floss made the damage look even worse! (moodlet: Scouting Slip-Up)

Cross Arms to Hide the Damage.

  • 100%: Your Sim would have made it through the entire Scout meeting if he/she hadn't been asked to demonstrate how to disarm a wild bear. What luck! When the Scout Leader saw the damaged uniform, your Sim had to endure an embarrassing lecture in front of the whole troop. (no job performance change)

Good Deeds

It's finally camping season and your Sim's troop is learning how to build tents. Your Sim notices his/her Llama Scout-level tent mate is struggling with the rods. Should he/she help out?

Help Out.

  • 100%: It felt good for your Sim to put on his/her mentoring hat and help out the Llama Scout. (moodlet: Joy of Scouting)

Let them Learn On Their Own.

  • 50%: Even though it took the Llama Scout twice as long to finally build the tent, they were happy that your Sim gave them the chance to figure it out themselves. (no job performance change)
  • 50%: Your Sim should have shared his/her knowledge. The poor Llama Scout struggled with the tent and couldn't get it built before an unexpected rain storm. Now he/she is both soaked and miserable. (moodlet: Scouting Slip-Up)

Lost Badge

After a Scout Meeting, your Sim spotted a badge on the floor. It turned out to be one of the more impressive badges that he/she hadn't made a lot of progress toward earning. What should he/she do with it?

Keep It!

  • 100%: Your Sim pinned the badge on his/her own vest. Later, a fellow scout spotted it and wanted to talk about earning it for themselves. They quickly saw through the ruse and turned your Sim in! The badge was taken away, and he/she got lectured for his/her little stunt. (moodlet: Scouting Slip-Up)

Turn It in to the Troop Leader.

  • 100%: Your Sim went directly to the troop leader with the missing badge. It was so rare that they knew exactly who it belonged to, and it was returned right away! Plus, your Sim got kudos for being such an honest Scout! (no job performance change)

Mentorship

There's one squirrely scout who is pretty terrible at everything he does. Last week he came to the meeting with his shirt inside out. The Troop Leader suggested your Sim could mentor this squirrely scout to help him improve.

Complete the Mentorship as Quickly as Possible.

  • 50%: Your Sim decided to get the mentorship over with as quickly as possible. Surprisingly, the junior scout responded well to being pushed, and they improved quickly. Nothing amazing, but the rest of the troop couldn't argue with the results! (no job performance change)
  • 50%: The Troop Leader caught your Sim trying to force the junior scout into competence. As a result, your Sim got lectured for being pushy, and someone else was asked to mentor the junior scout instead. (no job performance change)

Patiently Mentor the Junior Scout.

  • 100%: Your Sim approached the mentorship with a kindly demeanor and a positive attitude. Under his/her guidance, the junior scout flourished! Everyone was impressed and your Sim feels proud that he/she made such a difference! (moodlet: Scouting Spirit)

Make a speech

Your Sim was asked to talk about his/her scouting experiences during the weekly troop meeting. Should he/she make the speech entertaining or focus on being informative?

Give Informative Speech.

  • 50%: Your Sim decided to focus on the facts—information that would improve the troop and inform junior scouts on the merits of scouting. By the end of the speech, the room was quiet with thoughtfulness, and your Sim was met with nods of appreciation from his/her peers. (moodlet: Scouting Spunk)
  • 50%: Your Sim detailed the key aspects of Scouting from start to finish. Unfortunately, half of the scouts didn't benefit as they'd fallen asleep. The other half looked incredibly bored. Next time, your Sim should add some flair... (no job performance change)

Give Entertaining Speech.

  • 100%: Your Sim stepped to the front of the room and gave the most entertaining speech a scout ever heard! Everyone from the Llama Scouts to the Troop Leader were roaring with laughter by the end. (no job performance change)

The odds are the game's: each result of a choice has the same weight unless a skill or trait test changes it, as noted. The effect in brackets is what the result's loot does. "Best for job performance" is the choice with the highest expected change, shown only when every chance on the card is known.
