Work hours, shifts, and pay growth
In the first 6 levels, you work 8 hours a day from Monday to Friday. Your shifts start at 09:00 and total 40 hours per week. At level 1, you earn 16 Simoleons per hour, which gives you 640 Simoleons per week. By level 6, your pay reaches 75 Simoleons per hour and 3,000 Simoleons per week.
Every day you work, you earn paid days off. At level 1, you get 0.2 days of paid time off per workday. This rate increases at higher levels and reaches 0.3333 days per workday at level 10. If your Sim quits the job, the level they rejoin at drops by one every 2 days.
Several traits increase your hourly pay in the first 6 levels. An Economics Degree (BS, honors) or Communications Degree (BA, honors) adds 41% to your hourly wage. The Knowledge trait adds 30%, Valedictorian adds 15%, and Business Savvy adds 10%.
Choosing the Management or Investor branch
At level 7, you pick the Management branch or the Investor branch. The Investor branch pays more at every level. A level 7 Futures Trader makes 112 Simoleons per hour, or 4,480 Simoleons per week. A level 7 Vice-President in Management makes 90 Simoleons per hour, or 3,600 Simoleons per week.
Both branches drop Wednesday from your schedule at level 10, leaving 32 work hours per week. At level 10, an Angel Investor earns 406 Simoleons per hour. That brings in 12,992 Simoleons per week. A level 10 Business Tycoon in Management earns 375 Simoleons per hour, or 12,000 Simoleons per week.
Your choice also changes your daily start time. Investor shifts begin at 08:00, while Management shifts begin at 10:00. Both branches still require 8 hours of work per shift.
Faster promotions and Business career cheats
When your work performance is close to the promotion line, you have a 1% base chance for an early promotion. The Entrepreneurial trait multiplies this chance by 10. The Growth Mindset moodlet multiplies the chance by 5. If performance falls to the demotion line, the demotion chance is 100%, unless the Professional Slacker trait multiplies it by 0.
You can also use cheats in Live mode to skip the work grind. Open the cheat console by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type testingcheats true and press Enter before you enter any career commands.
Type careers.promote Adult_Business to advance one level right away. You can also use careers.add_career Adult_Business to join the track, or careers.demote Adult_Business to drop a level. To quit via the console, enter careers.remove_career Adult_Business.
