Every level in the Military career requires 40 hours of work per week across 8-hour shifts. From level 1 to level 5, you work Monday through Friday. Your start time moves from 06:00 at level 1 to 08:00 at level 5.
Weekly pay grows from 1,040 Simoleons at level 1 to 3,840 Simoleons at level 5. You also earn more paid time off as you advance, starting at 0.2 days per workday. By level 10, you earn 0.3333 paid days off for each day you work.
Certain traits and degrees add a bonus percentage to your hourly pay. A Psychology Degree (BS, honors) or History Degree (BA, honors) adds 41% to your hourly rate. The Knowledge trait adds 30%, Valedictorian adds 15%, and Business Savvy adds 10%.
Officer versus Covert Operator branch comparison
At level 6, you must pick either the Officer branch or the Covert Operator branch. Both branches pay the exact same hourly and weekly rates at every level. You start at 104 Simoleons per hour at level 6, which gives 4,160 Simoleons per week.
By level 10, both the Grand Marshal and Sim-In-Black roles pay 422 Simoleons per hour. That brings your weekly income to 16,880 Simoleons in either branch.
Your choice comes down to the work schedule you prefer for your Sim. The Officer branch keeps a daytime schedule from Monday to Friday, starting at 10:00. The Covert Operator branch shifts to evening hours starting at 18:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Faster promotions, demotions, and Military career cheats
When your work performance gets close to the promotion line, you have a 1% base chance for an early promotion. The Entrepreneurial trait multiplies this chance by 10. Having the Growth Mindset moodlet multiplies the chance by 5.
Poor work performance can drop you to the demotion line at the end of a shift. This gives a 100% base chance of demotion. The Professional Slacker trait multiplies this demotion chance by 0, which prevents demotions. If you quit the job, the level you would rejoin at drops by one every 2 days.
You can also use cheats in Live mode to change your career level right away. Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type testingcheats true first, then enter careers.promote Military to move up one level, or careers.demote Military to drop down.
