At levels 1 through 5, your Sim works 8 hours a day for 40 hours a week. Shifts always start at 09:00, though your specific work days shift toward the weekend as you advance. Your weekly pay starts at 840 Simoleons at level 1 and reaches 1,400 Simoleons by level 5.
At level 6, your shift drops to 7 hours a day from Wednesday through Sunday. You work 35 hours a week and bring home 1,540 Simoleons. You also earn paid time off each work day, starting at 0.2 days at level 1 and reaching 0.3333 at level 10.
Specific traits and degrees increase your hourly pay during the first six levels. A Fine Art or Art History BA with honors adds 41% to your hourly rate. The Knowledge trait adds 30%, Valedictorian adds 15%, and Business Savvy adds 10%.
Choosing between Master of the Real and Patron
At level 7, you pick between the Master of the Real branch and the Patron of the Arts branch. Patron of the Arts brings in the highest weekly income at level 10, paying 6,560 Simoleons per week. At that top level, you work 5 hours a day across four days, for 20 hours a week at 328 Simoleons an hour.
The Master of the Real branch pays a higher hourly rate at level 10, giving you 492 Simoleons an hour. However, you only work 5 hours on Monday and Thursday, totaling 10 hours and 4,920 Simoleons a week. Pick Patron of the Arts for maximum weekly Simoleons, or Master of the Real for extra free time.
Faster promotions, demotions, and Painter career cheats
When your work performance gets close to the promotion line, you have a 1% base chance for an early promotion. The Entrepreneurial trait multiplies this chance by 10, and the Growth Mindset moodlet multiplies it by 5.
If your performance hits the demotion line at the end of a shift, you face a 100% chance of demotion. The Professional Slacker trait multiplies this demotion chance by 0, which prevents demotions. Also, if you quit the job, the level you rejoin at drops by one every 2 days.
