Work schedule and pay in the Engineer career

At level 1, you work 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday. You earn 24 Simoleons per hour, which gives you 960 Simoleons per week. Your schedule expands to 45 hours per week at level 2 and stays there through level 4.

By level 5, your workdays shift to Tuesday through Saturday for 40 hours per week. At level 6, you become an Expert Engineer and earn 115 Simoleons per hour, or 4,600 Simoleons per week. You also earn more paid time off as you advance, starting at 0.2 days per workday at level 1.

The difference between the branches is the weekly schedule and total pay at levels 7 and 8. At level 7, a Computer Engineer works 45 hours for 6,525 Simoleons per week, while a Mechanical Engineer works 40 hours for 5,800 Simoleons. At level 8, a Mechanical Engineer works 35 hours for 7,700 Simoleons, beating the 32-hour, 7,040 Simoleon Computer Engineer week.

Getting promoted faster and using Engineer career cheats

When your work performance is close to the promotion line, you have a 1% base chance for an early promotion. The Entrepreneurial trait multiplies this chance by 10. Having the Growth Mindset moodlet multiplies the chance by 5.

If your performance drops to the demotion line at the end of a shift, you have a 100% chance of demotion. The Professional Slacker trait multiplies this chance by 0, which prevents demotions. If you quit the job, the level you rejoin at drops by 1 every 2 days.
