Robotics skill

You start at level 1 with 100 skill points. Reaching level 2 requires 1,440 additional points, bringing your total to 1,540 points. Each level after that asks for more points than the previous one.

The point requirements jump much higher in the second half of the skill. Moving from level 5 to level 6 takes 7,200 points, for a total of 19,780 points. Going from level 6 to level 7 requires 10,140 points, pushing your cumulative total to 29,920 points.

The final levels demand the most work from your Sim. Advancing from level 9 to level 10 takes 21,120 points alone. In total, you must earn 81,580 skill points to reach the maximum level of 10.

Your Sim's current emotion changes how fast you earn skill points. Being Focused multiplies your skill gain by 1.4, and being Very Focused multiplies it by 1.6. Negative emotions slow you down, as Angry and Sad multiply gain by 0.8, and Enraged drops it to 0.4.

Active moodlets and traits multiply together with your emotion boost. The Omega Brain Boost moodlet multiplies skill gain by 2, while Dedication, Mental Boost, and Perfected give a 1.5 multiplier. You also get a 1.4 multiplier from the Strong Mental Affinity trait, or 1.3 from Moderate Mental Affinity.

General skill boosts give the largest multipliers for your Sim. Snaggle Flustered multiplies skill gain by 4. Parental Guidance and Skilling on Up multiply your points gained by 3.

Early levels unlock basic crafting, like 31 recipes at level 2 for ExoMech suits, helmets, and RC Quadcopters. Levels 3 through 6 unlock Cleaner-Bots, Party-Bots, Gardener-Bots, and Fixer-Bots, plus teaching others at level 5. At level 7 you unlock 7 Robo-Arm recipes, and level 8 unlocks the Craft Servo recipe.

The Engineer career requires the Robotics skill for promotions starting at career level 2, which needs skill level 2. Each promotion up to career level 6 asks for the matching Robotics skill level. Both the Computer Engineer and Mechanical Engineer branches require levels 7, 8, and 9, and Computer Engineer also requires level 10.

You can skip the grind by using a cheat in Live mode. Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type testingcheats true, press Enter, and then enter stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_Robotics 10 to max out the skill.
