Programming skill

Reaching level 1 takes 100 skill points, and level 2 requires 1,440 more points for a total of 1,540. Early levels go by fast, as level 3 needs 2,160 points and level 4 needs 3,600 points.

The point requirements grow steeper in the middle and late levels. Going from level 6 to level 7 takes 10,140 points, which brings your total points to 29,920. Reaching the maximum level of 10 takes 21,120 points from level 9, or 81,580 total points from the start.

Your Sim gains Programming skill fastest while in a Focused or Very Focused emotion. Being Focused multiplies your skill gain by 1.4, and being Very Focused multiplies it by 1.6. Avoid practicing while Angry, Sad, Very Angry, Very Sad, or Enraged, because these emotions reduce your skill gain.

You can stack moodlets and traits to multiply your skill gain even further. The Among Geniuses and Omega Brain Boost moodlets each give a 2 multiplier. Moodlets like Dedication, Mental Boost, Miraculous Milk, and Perfected give a 1.5 multiplier, while the Strong Mental Affinity trait gives 1.4.

General skill boosts also apply to Programming and stack with other multipliers. The Snaggle Flustered boost multiplies skill gain by 4. Parental Guidance and Skilling on Up each multiply your skill points by 3.

Higher levels unlock new interactions. At level 2, you unlock Llamacorn Listserv, and at level 3, you can Mod Blicblock or Mod Hillock II. Middle levels let you Make Virus at level 4, Start Side Job at level 5, and Make Mobile App at level 7.

The top levels unlock Make Video Game at level 9, plus Supercomputer, Decrypt, and Crumplebottom Servers at level 10. You also need level 8 for the Oracle branch of the Criminal career, and level 7 for the Computer Engineer branch of the Engineer career.

To max the skill right away, open the cheat console in Live mode with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type testingcheats true and press Enter. Then enter stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_Programming 10 to reach level 10.
