How Handiness skill points scale per level

Unlocking level 1 takes just 100 skill points. Moving from level 1 to level 2 requires 1,440 more points, bringing your total to 1,540. The early levels go by fast and unlock the largest batches of crafting recipes, with 16 recipes at level 2 and 14 recipes at level 3.

The point requirement grows steeper in the middle and late levels. Going from level 6 to level 7 asks for 10,140 new points, which pushes your total from 19,780 to 29,920. The final jump from level 9 to level 10 takes 21,120 points, reaching the maximum total of 81,580 points.

Fastest ways to level Handiness with boosts

Keep your Sim in a Focused or Very Focused mood while working on Handiness. Being Focused multiplies your skill gain by 1.4, and being Very Focused multiplies it by 1.6. Avoid working while Angry or Sad, as those emotions multiply your gain by 0.8, and Enraged drops the multiplier to 0.4.

You can stack moodlets with your emotion because multiple active boosts multiply together. Moodlets like Artistic Endeavors, Eagle Eye Carrot Smoothie, and Omega Brain Boost each give a 2 multiplier to your skill points. General skill boosts work too, such as Snaggle Flustered with a 4 multiplier, or Parental Guidance with a 3 multiplier.

High level rewards, careers, and the Handiness cheat

Higher levels unlock advanced crafting recipes and upgrade interactions. At level 8, you can craft a Guitar, a Child's Violin, and The Wooden Throne. Level 9 lets you craft a Bathtub and install a Better Video Card, while level 10 unlocks the Toilet recipe and the Precision Temperature Probe.

You also need Handiness to advance in four careers. The Handyperson career asks for level 3 to promote out of career level 1, while the Boss branch of the Criminal career eventually asks for level 6. The Mechanical Engineer branch asks for the highest amount, needing level 7 Handiness to promote from career level 10.
