What is a prenup in BitLife?

What a prenup does in BitLife: how to ask for one, what happens when a partner refuses, the divorce split, royal marriages, and the Gold Digger challenge.

A prenup in BitLife is a prenuptial agreement. You and your partner sign it before the wedding. It keeps the money that each of you had before the marriage safe from a divorce.

GameRant calls it “a marital agreement that each partner must sign in order to safeguard the money they possess before marriage.” Charlie INTEL says that it gives you “exclusive ownership of all your assets accumulated before marriage.”

We opened every guide in the sources on October 27, 2026. The guides date from 2020 to 2026. BitLife changes with each update, so check the options in your own game. The App Store page shows version 3.26 today.

Is the prenup a paid feature?

No guide that we opened says so. The guides describe the prenup as part of the normal marriage steps. For the full list of BitLife purchases, read is BitLife free.

New to the game? Start with what BitLife is and how it plays.

A prenup protects only the money and assets that you had before the wedding. It does not protect the money that you earn during the marriage. The game splits that money in a divorce.

Gfinity Esports says: “Prenups typically protect only the assets acquired before marriage, not wealth accumulated during the marriage.” GameRant agrees. It says that wealth from the marriage “must be shared between you and your ex-partner.”

Gfinity Esports gives an example. You start with $80,000, and your partner starts with $20,000. A signed prenup protects both starting amounts.

How much does the game take without a prenup?

The guides do not agree on one number. Touch Tap Play (2021) says: “When you divorce, you will split shared assets equally.” Gfinity Esports (2024) says that one spouse can get more than half of the assets without a prenup.

The older Touch Tap Play guide adds two factors. It says that the amount depends on the length of the marriage and on your job. The newer guides do not give a percentage.

The prenup works for both partners

The prenup also protects your partner. If your partner is richer, the prenup keeps their money safe from you. Gfinity Esports says that the agreement works both ways.

Ask for the prenup during the engagement, before the wedding. The game shows the option when you decide to marry. Your partner must then agree to sign.

Gfinity Esports says that the option appears automatically when one partner has a lot of money. The option shows “the current net worth of both parties.” GameRant says that you can ask “immediately after deciding to marry.”

Charlie INTEL says that the game can show a pop-up that asks for the prenup. It says that you can also start the request yourself. Touch Tap Play (2021) says that the option can come up while you plan the honeymoon.

How to make your partner sign the prenup

Use these steps before you ask:

  • Raise the relationship bar as high as you can.
  • Give your partner gifts.
  • Spend time with your partner and keep them happy.
  • Ask for the prenup when the game shows the net worth of both partners.

Touch Tap Play says: “You can do this by showering them with gifts and increasing the relationship status to its highest potential.” A partner with a full relationship bar is more likely to say yes.

Do not wait too long

Gfinity Esports says that the engagement should not last three in-game years. Plan the wedding before then.

A refusal usually ends the engagement. The partner can get angry and call off the wedding. Then you get no marriage and no prenup.

Charlie INTEL says that “forcing your spouse to sign the document can enrage them to a level that they call off the wedding.” GameRant also says that the request can make your partner cancel the wedding.

Touch Tap Play (2021) says: “If either of you do not accept the prenup offered by the other, it usually puts an end to the marriage.”

What if your partner asks you to sign?

You can sign, or you can say no. Gfinity Esports says that you can decline and end the relationship. Touch Tap Play says that a refusal can end the engagement on the spot.

One newer guide shows a different result. Destructoid (August 2026) says to say no and “keep doing so until they eventually agree to move forward without one.” So a partner can also give up and marry you with no prenup.

Who asks for a prenup?

The richer partner usually asks. Level Winner (2020) says that a bigger gap in net worth makes the request more likely.

The guides disagree about the Craziness stat. Level Winner (2020) says that partners with low or mid Craziness ask more often. All Things How (August 2026) says that very crazy partners are more likely to demand a prenup. All Things How is newer, so we trust it more.

You cannot get a prenup when you marry a royal. The game shares your assets automatically in a royal marriage.

Destructoid says: “You’ll also share your assets automatically, as there’s no option for a prenuptial agreement.” It adds that you quit your job and take the royal title of your spouse. Read our guide to becoming royalty in BitLife before you marry a royal.

Can you get a prenup after the wedding?

No guide that we opened shows a way. Every guide puts the prenup before the wedding. Touch Tap Play says that you must offer it before the marriage.

Can the prenup fail?

Sometimes. Touch Tap Play (2021) says that some players lost a lot of money even with a prenup. Remember that the prenup never protects the money from the marriage years.

Get a prenup if you have much more money than your partner. Skip it if your partner is richer and you want a divorce payout.

Touch Tap Play says that a prenup helps most when you own much more than your partner. GameRant says to sign one if you want to protect a high net worth. GameRant also warns that “your marriage might end at any time.”

Charlie INTEL says that “the Prenup is only useful if you go through a divorce.” Gfinity Esports adds that a marriage to the end of the life avoids the split.

Tips for a prenup

  • Build the relationship before you ask. A happy partner signs more often.
  • Ask at the engagement. No guide shows a prenup after the wedding.
  • Expect the money from the marriage years to go into the split.
  • Do not count on a prenup in a royal marriage. The game gives no option.
  • Wait at least one year before a divorce if you want a payout. Level Winner says that a same-year divorce pays nothing.

Touch Tap Play gives one more trick. If a divorce goes badly, force quit the app and go back to before the divorce. For more tricks of this type, read our list of BitLife hacks.

The Gold Digger challenge uses prenups the most. In this challenge, you must avoid a prenup to get divorce money.

Destructoid (August 2026) lists four tasks:

  • Never have a job.
  • Marry 3+ times.
  • Get $1m+ from spouses through divorce.
  • Own a Lamborghini.

Destructoid says: “Make sure you don’t sign a prenup before marrying.” All Things How says that “a prenup blocks the payout you are after.” It tells you to pick partners with “high money and low craziness.”

How to get the divorce money

  • Marry a partner with a full money bar. Destructoid says that you get about $500,000 per divorce.
  • Have children with your spouse. Destructoid and All Things How say that children can raise the payout.
  • Divorce after one or two years of marriage.
  • Spend your cash before the next marriage. All Things How says that a lot of cash can shrink the next payout.

Only divorce money counts for the task. All Things How says that an inheritance does not count. Level Winner adds that a payout that you give to an ex counts against the $1 million.

Level Winner suggests one way to lower your net worth: lose money at blackjack. Our BitLife casino guide explains the games. For the full system, see our guide to BitLife challenges.

Yes, in part. LifeSim builds relationships through talk, not through stat bars and pop-ups. It is a different kind of game.

In LifeSim, you live one life in a real city on Earth. You talk to people in open text, in your own words. Each person has goals, relationships, and a memory of what you said. LifeSim is free in the browser and has nothing to buy.

LifeSim does not fit you if you want a prenup menu, a divorce payout, or a weekly challenge. It has no such system. Stay with BitLife for that. For other options, read games like BitLife, or learn what a life simulator is.

Does a prenup protect money that you earn after the wedding?

No. Every guide that we opened says that the prenup protects only the money from before the wedding.

Why did my partner call off the wedding?

The prenup request can make a partner angry. Charlie INTEL and GameRant say that the partner can cancel the wedding.

Can you get a prenup with a royal in BitLife?

No. Destructoid says that a royal marriage gives no option for a prenuptial agreement.

Should you sign a prenup for the Gold Digger challenge?

No. Destructoid and All Things How say that a prenup blocks the divorce money that the challenge needs.

Does God Mode change prenups?

No guide that we opened says so. Read our BitLife God Mode guide for what the add-on edits.

How long after the wedding can you divorce for money?

Wait at least one year. Level Winner says that a divorce in the year of the wedding pays nothing.
