How do you become a singer in BitLife?
Get the Musician pack, take voice lessons as a child, and audition at 18. Use this path, from Destructoid and Touch Tap Play:
- Buy the Musician special career pack, or Boss Mode.
- From age 8, take voice lessons under Activities, then Mind & Body.
- At 18, go to Occupation, then Special Careers, then Musician.
- Tap Solo Artist, and pick Singer as the career type.
- Audition with a record label.
- Read the contract, and accept it.
Destructoid says that the contract makes you a musician. It also unlocks albums, concerts, and world tours.
We opened every guide in the sources on October 27, 2026. The guides date from 2019 to 2025. BitLife changes with each update, so check the menus in your own game. New to the game? Read what BitLife is first.
Do you need the Musician pack?
Yes, for the singer career. Destructoid says that, without the pack, “you can’t become a famous musician.” You can still work as a disk jockey for free.
The BitLife Help Center says that Boss Mode “unlocks all current and future Job Packs.” It names Musician in that list. In February 2024, Destructoid gave $6.99 for the pack and $19.99 for Boss Mode. The Help Center gives no prices. Check the store in your game. Our guide to what BitLife costs lists the other purchases.
Why do old guides talk about a backing vocalist?
The music career changed in 2020. Level Winner says that version 1.45, the Pop Star update, added instruments, bands, and labels. Before it, the music job had a fixed path: Background Vocalist, then Lead Singer, then fame.
Gamezebo describes that old path in a 2019 guide. You take a backing vocalist job, then you “Work Hard” to become a Pop Star. The newer guides do not use that path. Follow the newer guides.
How do you raise your voice skill in BitLife?
Take voice lessons every year from age 8 until the skill bar is full. Find them at the bottom of Activities, then Mind & Body. Touch Tap Play gives this path.
- Childhood: your parents pay for the lessons. Touch Tap Play says that they can refuse if you behave badly at school.
- Lessons per year: Destructoid says that you can take up to three lessons each in-game year. More lessons give no more progress.
- Random results: Touch Tap Play says that a lesson can also lower the bar. You may need many lessons.
- Adulthood: after 18, you pay for each lesson. Get a job first.
The guides give different prices for adult lessons. Level Winner gave $500 for voice in 2020. Touch Tap Play gave $255 per class in 2023. Destructoid gave $500 to $1,500 per class in 2025. The Destructoid guide is the newest.
Can you learn an instrument instead?
Yes. Go to Activities, then Mind & Body, then Instruments. Level Winner says that instrument lessons start at age 6. Voice lessons start at age 8.
Level Winner lists guitar, bass, keyboards, violin, cello, brass, recorder, and didgeridoo. Destructoid says that each instrument progresses at a different rate. Try a few, and keep the fastest one.
Does the music special talent help?
Yes, but you do not need it. Touch Tap Play says that the music talent fills the voice bar “much faster.” Destructoid warns that the talent does not guarantee easy singing.
The guides disagree on which purchase gives the talent. Level Winner (2020) names God Mode. Touch Tap Play (2023) names Bitizenship. Destructoid (2024) says that the Musician pack includes a special talent. Our BitLife God Mode guide covers the stats that God Mode edits.
How do you get a record deal in BitLife?
Fill your voice or instrument skill bar, then audition at 18. A high skill is the main thing that labels want.
Which record labels are in BitLife?
Touch Tap Play named three labels in January 2023: Krypton Records, Liquid Entertainment, and Vulva Studios. It says that the choice is random. If one label rejects you, try the next one. Label names can change with updates.
How high must the skill be?
The guides give different numbers. The newest guide asks for the highest number.
| Guide | Skill that it suggests |
|---|---|
| Level Winner, 2020 | Close to 100% |
| GameRant, 2021 | About 80% to 90% |
| Touch Tap Play, 2023 | About 70% or more |
| Destructoid, 2025 | About 90% to 100% |
Fill the bar to the top. Then no guide says that your skill is too low.
What does the contract say?
Destructoid lists the genre, the cash advance, the royalty rate, and the term. Read the genre first. Level Winner says that your genre usually stays the same for the whole career.
You can change the genre later. Level Winner says to leave the contract or the band, then audition again. It also warns about one risk. If you walk out of a solo contract early, labels refuse to sign you for a time.
What if every label rejects you?
Raise the skill, age up, and try again. GameRant says that you get three tries per year. Touch Tap Play says to raise your voice skill if all three labels say no.
How do you become a rapper or a band musician in BitLife?
A rapper is a solo singer with a rap contract. A band musician auditions for a band, not for a solo deal. Both use the Musician pack.
How to become a rapper in BitLife
Touch Tap Play says that BitLife has no rapper career as such. Instead, your singer makes rap albums. Destructoid gives the steps:
- Take voice lessons until the singing bar is almost full.
- At 18, audition as a singing solo artist in the Musician tab.
- Read the genre in the contract offer.
- Decline every genre that is not rap.
- Audition again until a rap contract comes. Then sign it.
Destructoid says that rap bands exist, but that solo is “usually easier.” GameRant gives the same decline step in its Unlike Us guide. If no rap offer comes this year, try again next year.
How to join a band in BitLife
Master an instrument or your voice, then tap Join a Band in the Musician menu. Level Winner says that you audition for a band with an open spot. It also says that you cannot form your own band with friends.
Touch Tap Play suggests keyboard, guitar, bass, or vocals for a band. In a band, you can kick out members, change the band name, or quit. Level Winner says that the band can vote against a kick out.
Keep your bandmates happy. Level Winner says that bad relationships can lead to poor shows. Good tours and good sales improve the relationships. Touch Tap Play says that you can leave the band later to go solo.
Can you become a K-pop idol?
Yes. GameRant says that your character must live in South Korea. Then follow the solo singer steps, and audition with any of the three labels.
How do you become a famous singer in BitLife?
Release music, perform concerts, and raise your popularity until the game makes you famous. Destructoid says that you then get the message “you are officially a famous rapper.” That message unlocks fame options in Activities.
Albums and singles
Open your music job in the Occupation tab, and select Album. Level Winner says that a release can be a studio album, a single, or a live album. You pick the name, the sub-genre, the track count, and the cover art.
Sales are mostly luck. Destructoid tells challenge players to release one album per year. DualShockers suggests one album every two to three years. Both work. Check Discography to see the sales and the earnings of each release.
Gold, platinum, and diamond records
A release can rise later. Level Winner says that a record with no award in its first year can still go gold or platinum. GameRant says that the game can tell you years later that an old album went platinum.
DualShockers says that double platinum needs more than 2,000,000 copies. We found no source that we could open with the number for gold, platinum, or diamond. So we left those out.
Concerts and tours
Start with concerts. Level Winner says that concert offers need enough popularity. Tours need much more, and a tour can have up to about 20 stops. Concert pay goes from a few hundred dollars to millions.
GameRant gives the tour path. Open your music job, scroll down, and choose Tour. Then accept a tour from the list of cities.
Social media and looks
GameRant says that videos on YouTube and Instagram help you gain fans. Destructoid says that social media unlocks at age 13. GameRant also says that a K-pop idol must keep looks, health, and social media up, or lose the spot.
Can you buy fame?
Yes. The Help Center says that the Hollywood Star lets you “instantly become famous” in some jobs. Its list includes Singer and Musician. Turn it on in the Items menu, under collectibles. Destructoid says that it can take one age up or one album to start.
What can a famous musician do?
Level Winner lists books, commercials, photo shoots, late-night TV, a verified social media account, and endorsement money. Our BitLife hacks list has more ways to speed up a life.
Music is not the only fame career. Compare it with the actor career in BitLife, the modeling career, and pro sports.
Which BitLife challenges and ribbons need a music career?
Many weekly challenges ask you to sign with a label or sell records. The table shows the challenges in guides that we opened.
| Challenge | Music tasks | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Rocket Man | Master the piano, become a famous solo artist, have a double platinum record | DualShockers, 2021 |
| Urban Country | Release a platinum R&B album, then a platinum country album | GameRant, 2024 |
| Turn Back Time | Become a pop singer, have 2+ pop albums go platinum or higher | Destructoid, 2024 |
| Your Favorite Artist | Earn a gold single after you switch labels | Destructoid, 2024 |
| Unlike Us | Become a famous rapper, make $1M+ on tour, have 3+ records go platinum | GameRant, 2025 |
| Trailblazing Superstar | Master an instrument | GameRant, 2025 |
Each challenge has more tasks than the table shows. Read the guide before you start. Our guide to BitLife challenges explains how the weekly challenges work.
To switch labels, Destructoid gives two ways. A band member leaves the band after fame. A solo artist waits for the contract to end and does not renew it.
Is there a singer ribbon?
We found no ribbon for music only. A famous singer can earn the Famous ribbon. Destructoid lists it as “Become famous through any means necessary.” It also says that Famous takes priority over the money ribbons. See the full list of BitLife ribbons.
Is there a life sim with no record deal to chase?
Yes. LifeSim has no skill bars, no labels, and no record sales. It is a different kind of game.
In LifeSim, you live one life in a real city on Earth. You talk to people in your own words. They remember what you said. LifeSim is free, and it has nothing to buy.
LifeSim does not fit you if you want albums, tours, and platinum records. It has no music career system. Stay with BitLife for that. For a Sims fame system, read our Sims 4 Get Famous guide. For more options, see games like BitLife.
