Become a famous author in BitLife: the Writer job, the Smarts you need, how to write a book from the Fame menu, book results, and the author challenges.

How do you become a famous author in BitLife?

Raise your Smarts in school and finish high school. Then take the Writer job and work harder every year. After some years, a pop-up tells you that you are a famous author. Then you can write books from the Fame menu.

Writer is a normal job in BitLife, not a paid Job Pack. The actor career in BitLife needs a pack, but the writer career does not. The sources below do not name a purchase for it.

How do you become an author in BitLife?

Finish high school, then find “Writer” in the job list. The BitLife wiki lists Writer under the Publisher jobs. The only education that it needs is high school. The wiki also lists “High Smarts” as a requirement.

What education do you need to be a writer in BitLife?

You need high school only. The wiki gives “Upper Secondary School” as the education for Writer. Touch Tap Play also says that college is optional. Destructoid agrees that some writer jobs need only a high school diploma.

A degree still helps. Destructoid says to apply to a university and to major in English. The newest guide here is the Destructoid guide from January 2026.

What is the starting salary for a writer?

The wiki gives an average salary of $21,730 for Writer. The wiki table shows no promotion from Writer. Salaries can change with the country and with updates.

What if the Writer job is not in the list?

Age up, or close and open the app again. Destructoid says that both actions refresh the job listings. Touch Tap Play says that Writer is usually near the bottom of the list.

Do not take other jobs first without a plan. Touch Tap Play warns that some jobs can lock you out of the writer career.

Are there other jobs for writers?

Yes. The wiki lists Newspaper jobs: Jr. Editor, Editor, and Sr. Editor. These jobs need a university degree. Touch Tap Play says that work in publishing, editing, or writing can lead to fame as an author.

How long does it take to become a famous author in BitLife?

It takes several years of good work. Destructoid says that the fame pop-up “will likely take several years.” No source that we opened gives an exact number of years.

How do you get fame faster as a writer?

  1. Open your job page after you get hired.
  2. Increase your hours. The Destructoid writer added about 10 hours, from 40 to 50 hours a week.
  3. Select “work harder” as often as you can.
  4. Fill the performance bar, then ask your boss for a raise and a promotion.
  5. Do this every year until the pop-up says that you are a famous author.

Watch your health. Touch Tap Play says that working harder can cause conditions such as high blood pressure. If this happens, reduce your hours and rest.

How do you write a book in BitLife?

Become famous first. Then open Activities, then Fame, then Book. Pick a title for the book. The book option does not appear before you are famous.

The wiki describes the Fame menu as “Activities > Fame.” The menu has four options: Book, Commercial, Photo Shoot, and Talk Show. Book has the label “Write a book.” Gfinity Esports gives the same path.

How much fame do you need to write a book?

Touch Tap Play says that publishing deals need fame “around 30% or higher.” More fame gives you better odds. The wiki says that a publishing company must agree to publish your book.

Does the book title matter?

No. Touch Tap Play says that the title “doesn't do anything.” Pick any title that you like.

How long does it take to write a book?

The game does not show a writing time. The wiki says that you pick a title and spend a little money. Then a pop-up gives the result of the book.

Can you choose the genre of a book?

The game tracks some genres. The Lucrative Lexicon challenge asks you to “Write adult fiction,” and two challenges ask for a book about your life. We did not find an opened source that lists every genre. So we do not list them here.

How do you write a memoir in BitLife?

Use the same Book option. Gfinity Esports gives the path Activities, then Fame, then Write a Book. Touch Tap Play also says that memoirs come from the Book option. Fame from any career unlocks it, not only from the writer career.

How do book sales and royalties work in BitLife?

Each book gives a result and a payment in one pop-up. The wiki says that the pop-up shows “how much money you earned from the book.” The book also increases your fame.

Do you get royalties from books in BitLife?

We could not verify it. The sources that we opened describe one payment per book, in the result pop-up. No opened source describes a royalty payment in later years. Check your finances after you age up to see what your game does.

How do you write a bestseller?

Keep fame high and write more books. No opened source gives a sure method. The result list shows that a book can also flop.

What ribbons and challenges need a famous author?

The Famous ribbon is the main ribbon for this career. The wiki says that it means “Achieve fame in life,” and it lists writer as a fame career. See all the ribbons in our BitLife ribbons list.

Which achievements help an author?

  • Brightest Star: “Achieve maximum fame.” The wiki says that this achievement also gives the Famous ribbon.
  • Human Dictionary: “Read the dictionary.” The Merriam-Webster Dictionary is a book in Mind & Body.
  • Writer career collection: The wiki says that you collect a career when you hold it for 20 years in a row.

What is the Lucrative Lexicon challenge?

It is the main author challenge. The wiki dates it to April 15 to 19, 2023, and marks it as expired. The tasks are:

  • Read the dictionary
  • Become a famous author
  • Write 2+ best-selling books
  • Write adult fiction
  • Write a viral Facebook blog post

The wiki says that BitLife put uncompleted challenges into a challenge vault in October 2022. Players pay for access to the vault.

What are the best tips for a BitLife writer?

Keep Smarts high from childhood. The wiki lists “High Smarts” as a requirement for Writer.

  • Read books. Open Activities, then Mind & Body, then Books. The wiki says that each book in a year can raise Smarts, unlike the Library.
  • Read the dictionary. The wiki book table shows the dictionary at age 13 with “Smarts +100.” The book table says 3,350 pages, and the Achievements page says 3,500 pages.
  • Start again if Smarts is low. Touch Tap Play suggests a new character if Smarts is under 70%. With BitLife God Mode, you can set Smarts before the life starts.
  • Join a club. Touch Tap Play suggests an extracurricular club in high school. It does not need to be a sport.
  • Do not quit. The wiki says that fame drops when you quit the job that made you famous.
  • Use the Fame menu every year. Touch Tap Play suggests at least one fame activity each year to keep fame up.

Fame events can go either way. The wiki says that stalkers, insults, and paparazzi appear at random. Your answer can raise or lower your fame. For a career that needs more school, compare the doctor path in BitLife.

Where does LifeSim fit for a writer life?
