inZOI vs The Sims 4

Price, looks, depth, and play style. Where each game wins and where it is weak.

It depends on what you value. inZOI looks better. The Sims 4 has more to do. Neither game is better for every player.

inZOI is in Early Access. The Sims 4 is ten years old. A player who buys inZOI today buys a strong start. A player who plays The Sims 4 gets a finished sandbox with a long list of packs.

This post compares the two games on price, looks, depth, and play style. It also says where each game is weak. You read this on the LifeSim blog. LifeSim is a third kind of game, and we say where it fits at the end.

No. The Sims 4 is free to play. inZOI costs money.

EA made the base game of The Sims 4 free on October 18, 2022. The base game runs on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox. Everything else costs money. EA sells expansion packs, game packs, and kits one by one.

inZOI launched in Early Access on March 27, 2025. Its Steam page lists one price for Early Access and says the full game can cost more later. The developers say they will improve the game for at least a year during Early Access.

The total cost is different from the first cost. A Sims 4 player pays nothing at first, then pays for each pack. An inZOI player pays one time and gets the game. Check both store pages before you buy, because prices change.

inZOI. It is built on Unreal Engine 5, and the character creator has more than 250 customization options, according to the Steam page. Critics praised the visuals and the character creation.

The Sims 4 has a cartoon style. It is also lighter to run. Its Steam page lists a minimum of 4 GB of RAM and 26 GB of storage. inZOI lists a minimum of 12 GB of RAM, a graphics card of the RTX 2060 class, and 40 GB of storage.

If your computer is old, check these numbers first. A game that runs at a low frame rate is not fun, however good it looks.

The Sims 4

The Sims 4 has the larger list. Steam shows over 114 content items for it. They add careers, places, objects, and game systems. Many of them are sold one by one.

inZOI

inZOI has two explorable cities on Steam, with jobs and relationships. Wikipedia names three worlds: Dowon, which is inspired by Seoul; Bliss Bay, which is inspired by Santa Monica; and Kucingku, which is inspired by Bali. The same page says each Zoi has eight needs and that official mod support began in May 2025.

Critics were less kind about the play itself. Wikipedia reports that some reviewers found the game thin, with few meaningful interactions between characters. The developers have said they will add more during Early Access.

In The Sims 4, you tell each Sim what to do. You build the house, pick the career, and choose each action.

inZOI adds a karma system. Every Zoi has a karma level, from terrible to great. Kind actions raise it. Threats and fights lower it. If a Zoi with terrible karma dies, the Zoi becomes a ghost. TheGamer describes how the player can step in to help a Zoi whose karma is low.

The Steam page also lists generative AI tools. They let a player make custom patterns, 3D objects, and character animations. This is a tool for creators. It is not a character that talks back.

Both games ask you to steer. You are the director, and the characters follow your commands.

Both games have good scores on Steam. The Sims 4 shows 86% positive reviews from over 107,000 players. inZOI shows 79% positive reviews from over 14,000 players. We read these numbers on October 1, 2026. They change every day.

The two scores do not measure the same thing. The Sims 4 is free, so many players try it. inZOI costs money, so each review comes from a player who paid. A review of an Early Access game also judges a game that is not finished.

Read the recent reviews, not only the total. Steam shows both. The recent score tells you how the game is today, after the latest patch.

Wait if you hate unfinished games. Buy now if you accept the risk.

The Steam page says the developers plan to improve the game throughout Early Access, for at least a year. It also says the roadmap can change based on feedback. That is a plan, not a promise. We cannot tell you which features will arrive or when.

Early Access has one more cost. The price can rise at full release. The Steam page says the Early Access price is lower than the price of the full game. A player who buys early pays less, and accepts the gaps.

You can lower the risk. Play the free Sims 4 base game for a week first. You learn if you enjoy the genre. Then you know if a second game is worth the money.

Yes. The two games do not conflict. You can keep The Sims 4 for long family stories and open inZOI for its looks.

The cost of the second game is small if you start with the free one. The cost in disk space is larger. The Sims 4 asks for 26 GB at the minimum. inZOI asks for 40 GB. Plan for both on one drive.

Your saves do not move between the games. Each game keeps its own families, houses, and characters. You start again in each one.

One more point matters on a laptop. inZOI lists a graphics card of the RTX 2060 class as the minimum. A thin laptop can fail that check. The Sims 4 runs on a much weaker machine. Read the requirements list on both Steam pages before you decide.

Play The Sims 4 first. It is free, so the risk is zero. If you love the genre and your computer is strong, then try inZOI.

Buy inZOI first only if the look matters most to you. Accept that the game is still growing.

It does not replace either game. LifeSim has no house to build and no packs to buy. It is a free game in the browser, on a real map of Earth.

In LifeSim, you talk to the people around you in your own words. They answer in their own words and remember what you said. That is a different kind of game from a sandbox. Read LifeSim vs The Sims for the full comparison.

If you want to build a family home in 3D, stay with The Sims 4 or inZOI. For more options, read games like The Sims.
