Can you drive in inZOI?

Yes. Since the March 26, 2026 update, Zois can drive vehicles in the city. The patch notes say: “Zois can now drive vehicles located throughout the city.” Zois can also ride bicycles as vehicles.

The June 19 update added more. It added an experimental Advanced Driving Mode. Read below for what each update changed, what is still missing, and the risks for your Zoi.

We did not play these updates ourselves. We read the patch notes. Check each detail in your own game, because inZOI is in Early Access. You read this on the LifeSim blog. We make a browser life sim, and we say where our game does not fit.

Driving in the city

Zois can drive vehicles that are in the city. They can also ride bicycles as vehicles.

Parking

Some residential properties now have family-exclusive parking spaces. A vehicle that you buy goes into any family-exclusive space that the Zoi owns. The update also adds public parking lots.

Collisions

Vehicles slow down on their own when a collision is near. The update improves the interactions that follow a collision between a vehicle and an object. Damaged objects are not restored while a Zoi stands on them.

Crime

Zois now have a chance to be arrested for stealing a vehicle that belongs to another Zoi. A stolen car has a real cost in the game.

The June 19 patch notes say: “Advanced Driving Mode has been added as an experimental feature.” It adds a handbrake, body roll, suspension, and related vehicle controls.

The notes say that “Active Mode” is not in that update. We found no explanation of Active Mode in the notes. Treat it as a feature that is not here yet.

The same update changed other parts of driving:

• Family members can drive the car of a Zoi.
• Vehicles can make U-turns.
• Traffic is better.
• The minimap works like GPS and can rotate with the facing direction of the Zoi.

1. March 26, 2026: driving in the city, bicycles, parking spaces, public parking lots, and the risk of arrest for car theft.
2. June 19, 2026 (v0.9.0): the experimental Advanced Driving Mode, family members that drive your car, U-turns, and better traffic.
3. September 3, 2026 (v0.10.0): vacations to other cities, with no driving note.
4. October 15, 2026 (v0.11.0): CLI commands for the maximum number of cars and Zois.

The pace shows that the team works on driving in steps. Expect more changes, and read the notes of each new update. The September 3 update has no driving note, so a long gap between driving changes is normal. For all the updates, read inZOI patch notes.

The March 26 notes say that a newly purchased vehicle goes into any family-exclusive parking space that the Zoi owns. Use these steps:

1. Check if your home has a family-exclusive parking space. Only certain residential properties have one.
2. Buy the vehicle.
3. Look for the vehicle in the family space.
4. If your home has no space, use a public parking lot.

The notes do not say what happens to a new vehicle when the Zoi has no family space. We cannot confirm it. Test it in your own save before you spend money in the game.

The March 26 notes list two fixes near vehicles. One fix is for fish catch rates from boats, which the game did not apply correctly. The other fix is for customers that did not visit the water taxi property during operating hours.

These fixes show that boats and a water taxi exist in the game. They do not show that a Zoi drives them. The October 15 notes also fix a Zoi that stood under a boat after fishing. If you see a Zoi in a strange place after a boat trip, update the game.

The answer depends on what you want:

• If you want to drive around the city now, play the current version. The basic features work.
• If you want a driver test or license steps, wait. We found no such feature in the notes.
• If you want full control of the car, try Advanced Driving Mode. It is experimental, so expect problems.
• If you share a car with family, play the June 19 version or later. Family members can drive the car of a Zoi from that update.

inZOI is in Early Access, and the developers say they plan to improve the game during that time. Read is inZOI worth it? to decide.

We do not know. The March 26 notes do not mention a driver license or a licensing system. We found no license step in the June 19 notes either.

For comparison, BitLife has a driving test with questions that you must answer. We did not find a test like it in the inZOI notes.

The October 15 update (v0.11.0) added CLI commands that change the maximum number of cars and Zois. You can run the commands yourself. You can also ask an LLM to run them through the MCP integration that the notes describe.

Travel to other cities works through vacations. The September 3 update (v0.10.0) lets Zois go on a vacation to different cities. The player chooses the companions, the lodging, and the trip length. A vacation uses a separate save file.

The notes do not say that the Zoi drives to the other city. Do not expect a road trip. For the full vacation list, read every inZOI update of 2026.

The notes mention fishing from boats and a water taxi property. They do not describe boat driving. We cannot confirm that a Zoi can drive a boat.
