Sims 4 age up cheat: steps in CAS, and the cake way for infants

There is no single code that ages a Sim by one step. The method that two guides agree on uses the cheat cas.fulleditmode. You open the Sim in Create a Sim (CAS) and pick a new age.

Open the cheat box with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC, or Command + Shift + C on Mac. On a console, press all four shoulder buttons or triggers at once. Then type testingcheats on and cas.fulleditmode.

Next, hold Shift and click the Sim. Choose Modify in CAS. Pick the new age and click Play. This guide gives each step, the limits, and the way to age up an infant without a cheat.

1. Save the game first. Use a new save slot if you can.
2. Open the cheat box with the keys for your system.
3. Type testingcheats on and press Enter. The game shows the message “Cheats are enabled.”
4. Type cas.fulleditmode and press Enter. The game shows no message for this one.
5. Close the cheat box.
6. Hold Shift and click the Sim. Choose Modify in CAS.
7. Choose the new age in the CAS menu.
8. Click Play. Do not save until you check that everything works.

Snootysims lists two other ways into CAS. You can use Enter Create A Sim in the Simology panel. You can also use the Edit option in the Manage Households tab. The guide says Shift-click also works on townies and on households that you never played.

Some guides write testingcheats true. Others write testingcheats enabled. We found all three spellings in the guides that we opened. See the full list of Sims 4 cheats if one spelling does not work for you.

No. GGRecon says that CAS cannot age up a newborn. The guide says you age a newborn up by clicking it. The next section shows the method with a cake.

The guides that we opened say you “pick the new age” in CAS. They do not say if the menu lets you pick a younger age. Test it on a copy of your save.

GGRecon gives a method with no cheats. It uses a birthday cake.

1. Cook a cake at the fridge or the stove. The guide suggests a honey cake.
2. Add candles before anyone takes a slice. Click the cake and choose Add Birthday Candles. It costs 10 Simoleons.
3. Click the cake again. Choose Help Blow Out Candles and select the infant.

You cannot add candles to a cake that has a slice missing. The guide writes its steps for infants only. It gives no separate steps for toddlers or other life stages.

The same guide also lists the CAS steps from above as the cheat method. It repeats the limit: CAS cannot age up a newborn.

Snootysims gives four warnings. They apply to the CAS method.

• Save before you use cheats. If you leave without a save, the changes go away.
• If you edit a Sim from a household that you played, the game switches to that household when you leave CAS. Use the Manage Households tab to avoid this.
• Children, teens, and toddlers have different aspirations and traits than adults. Update them after you change the age.
• Do not age NPCs that have jobs. The guide names the vendors of Cottage Living and the sages of Realm of Magic. The game may replace them.

Create a Sim (CAS) is the screen where you make a Sim at the start of a household. Normally it is closed to a Sim that you already play. Most changes are locked, and the age is one of them.

The code cas.fulleditmode opens the lock. Snootysims says it “unlocks all CAS options, including age.” That is why the guides all use CAS for this job. The cheat does not age the Sim by itself. You do the change in the menu.

When you are done, you can type testingcheats off. That turns cheats off. Do it after you check the Sim in the game.

Use the cake for an infant, because it needs no cheat. Use CAS for every other change of age. Save first in both cases.

The natural way takes game days, and a Sim moves one stage at a time. Players use the cheat for a few clear jobs. They skip a long childhood. They fix a Sim that they made at the wrong age. They move a townie into a family.

The cheat has a cost. A life stage holds the skills, the school days, and the memories that a Sim collects. If you skip a stage, the Sim skips them. If you like slow stories, try a different tool. It does not fit if you want to jump a Sim from one life stage to the next. LifeSim has no age cheat. Time runs on the game clock, and you live each day.

Does the cheat work on townies?

Yes. Snootysims says Shift-click works on townies and NPCs. The guide still warns you not to age NPCs that have jobs.

Which command turns cheats off again?

Type testingcheats off. Do this after you check that the Sim is correct.

How do you open the cheat box on a console?

Press all four shoulder buttons or triggers at once. The guides that we opened give the Shift-click step for PC, so we did not verify the console menu for Modify in CAS.

Can you change the traits of a Sim in CAS?

How do you stop a Sim from aging?
