What the High Maintenance trait changes in play

Sims with the High Maintenance trait experience 10 specific moodlets that pull their emotions toward Angry, Tense, Uncomfortable, or Happy. Most of these moodlets have a weight of 3 and last for 8 hours in Sim time. For example, Hangnail and Really Weird Dream make your Sim feel Tense, while Butt Hurt, Shampoo In Eyes, and Poseidon's Kiss make them Uncomfortable.

The strongest moodlet from this trait is Worst Day EVER. It gives an Angry weight of 5 for 8 hours, which pulls hard on your Sim's overall mood. On the positive side, the Catharsis moodlet gives a Happy weight of 4 and lasts for 4 hours.

This trait has no always-on moodlets, no moodlet replacements, and no hidden multipliers. However, the game tests for this trait on 2 interactions. These interactions are Complain about Uncomfortable Seats and Share Moment of Catharsis.

Compatibility and how to get the trait

High Maintenance is available for Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder human Sims. It does not conflict with any other traits in the game. You can pair it with any personality traits you like in Create a Sim.

You can select the trait directly in Create a Sim if you own the Spa Day pack. You can also add or remove it in Live mode using the cheat console. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac to open the console.

Type traits.equip_trait trait_HighMaintenance to add the trait, or type traits.remove_trait trait_HighMaintenance to remove it. These commands do not require you to turn on testingcheats true first.
