The Loyal personality trait for dogs comes in the Cats & Dogs pack for The Sims 4. It applies to dogs in the Infant, Child, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder life stages. This trait changes how quickly a dog's need for attention drops during play.

You can choose the Loyal trait in Create a Sim when you make a dog. You can also add or remove it in Live mode with the cheat console. It conflicts with the Aloof and Independent traits.

The Loyal trait changes one specific need multiplier on your dog. A dog with this trait has an Affection need that drains ×2 as fast. The game files list this ×2 Affection need drain twice under the trait's effects, and hidden multipliers multiply together.

This trait does not add any moodlets or replace any standard moodlets. It also has 0 interactions that check for it in the game files. Because of the faster drain, you must give a Loyal dog attention much more often.

Conflicts and how to get the trait

Only dogs can have this version of the Loyal trait. It is available for Infant, Child, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder dogs. You cannot pair it with the Aloof trait or the Independent trait.

To get the trait normally, pick it in Create a Sim. You can also use a cheat in Live mode without turning on testingcheats true. Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac.

Type traits.equip_trait trait_Pet_Loyal_Dog to add the trait. To remove it, type traits.remove_trait trait_Pet_Loyal_Dog into the console.
