The Loyal trait is a base game personality trait in The Sims 4. You can give it to Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder human Sims.

This trait adds 20 moodlets to the game, and 4 interactions check for it. It has no hidden skill multipliers or career pay bonuses.

How the Loyal trait changes gameplay and emotions

Loyal Sims experience strong emotions through 20 trait moodlets. The strongest moodlets have a weight of 3 and pull your Sim toward Sad, Happy, Tense, or Confident moods. For example, Heartbreaking Revelation gives a +3 Sad moodlet for 2 days 12 hours, while Trust Rebuilt gives +3 Happy for the same duration.

This trait also replaces one standard moodlet. When a Sim would normally get the Fast Talker moodlet (+2 Confident for 2 hours), a Loyal Sim gets a +1 Sad moodlet for 2 hours instead.

Four interactions in the game check for the Loyal trait. These interactions are Attempt to Rebuild Trust, Confess Cheating, Confront About Bullying, and Express Devotion.

Trait conflicts, eligible Sims, and how to get it

Only human Sims from the Teen stage through the Elder stage can have the Loyal trait. It conflicts with the Noncommittal trait, so you cannot pick both for the same Sim.

You can select the trait in Create a Sim or earn it during gameplay through the Ask about Lighthouse Letter interaction. You can also add or remove it in Live mode using the cheat console.

Open the console with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type traits.equip_trait trait_Loyal to add the trait, or traits.remove_trait trait_Loyal to remove it. You do not need to enable testing cheats first.
