The Proper trait is a personality trait in The Sims 4 that comes with the Snowy Escape pack. You can give it to human Sims from the Child age up to Elder.

How the Proper trait changes moodlets and play

Proper Sims get 4 special moodlets. The Proper Outfit moodlet adds a Happy weight of 1 with no timer, so it stays while its cause lasts. Witnessed Inappropriate Behavior makes your Sim Angry with a weight of 1 for 2 hours. They can also get Improper Attitude, which is Embarrassed for 8 hours, or No More Loyalty, which is Uncomfortable for 1 day.

This trait also replaces standard moodlets with custom ones. Instead of Moving On Up, your Sim gets Loyalty Rewarded, which raises the Happy weight from 1 to 2 and lasts 10 hours instead of 8 hours. Instead of Rethinking Options, they get Losing Devotion, which doubles the Embarrassed weight to 2 for 8 hours. Instead of the Sad moodlet from Fired, they feel Shame, an Embarrassed moodlet with a weight of 3 for 1 day.

The game checks for the Proper trait during 4 interactions. These are Relax in Hot Springs, Skinny Dip, Skinny Dip in Hot Springs, and Witness Improper Behavior. The trait has no hidden skill or career multipliers.

Conflicts, ages, and how to get it

You can select the Proper trait in Create a Sim for Child, Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder humans. You cannot combine it with the Slob, Mean, Cringe, Grouch, or Disruptive traits.

You can also add or remove the trait in Live mode using the cheat console. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac to open the box. Type traits.equip_trait trait_Proper to add it, or traits.remove_trait trait_Proper to remove it, without needing testingcheats.
