What the Mean trait changes in play
The Mean trait has no always-on moodlets, hidden multipliers, or career pay bonuses. Instead, it replaces specific moodlets when your Sim gets them.
When a Sim would get the Triumphant moodlet, they get a Confident moodlet with a weight of 3 instead of 2. When they would get the Inspiring Story moodlet, they get the That Was... Cheesy moodlet instead. This changes a 4 hours Happy moodlet with a weight of 2 into a 2 hours Uncomfortable moodlet with a weight of 1.
The game also checks for this trait during 14 interactions. These include options like Argue about Kindness, Crush Dreams, Smash Puzzle, and Write Angry Note For.
Conflicts and how to get the Mean trait
This trait suits players who want to use interactions like Heckle, Pressure to Abdicate, or Use Thioacetone Oil. Because of its focus, it conflicts with the Good, Proper, and Generous traits. You cannot put Mean on a Sim who has any of those traits.
You can select this trait in Create a Sim, or a Sim can get it through the Cloning interaction. You can also add or remove it in Live mode with the cheat console.
Open the console with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type traits.equip_trait trait_Mean to add the trait, or traits.remove_trait trait_Mean to remove it. These cheats do not need testingcheats true.
