How to become a CEO in BitLife

Become a CEO in BitLife: the business degree, Business School, the corporate jobs, the promotion ladder, the years it takes, and owning a company.

Study a business subject at university, such as Finance, Economics, or Marketing. Then finish Business School. Take a job that BitLife marks as Corporate, and stay at the same company. Work hard every year until the game promotes you to the top. The top job is CEO.

The path is slow. The guides that we read say that it takes 12 to 20 game years or more after your first corporate job. Many players get the CEO title late in their career.

There is a second way. If you own the Business Job Pack, you can start your own company and be its founder. That path is not a corporate ladder. We explain it below, and in our guide to the BitLife Business update.

We checked these steps against eight guides on November 2, 2026. Most guides are from 2020 to 2024. Candywriter can change the jobs in any update, so the names in your game can be a little different.

RequirementWhat the guides say
High schoolGraduate. Do not drop out.
University majorA business subject: Finance, Economics, Marketing, Accounting, or Mathematics. The guides do not all list the same majors.
Business SchoolFinish it. It opens the corporate jobs and the vice president jobs.
SmartsHigh. Charlie INTEL says 80% or more. BitLifePro says more than 90%.
Job performanceKeep it near 100% every year.
Clean recordStay out of jail. Two guides say that ex-convicts can lose corporate jobs.
Time15 or more years of corporate work, in most guides

No guide that we read names a paid pack for the corporate CEO path. The paid packs matter only for the second way, where you own the company.

You need a business degree from university, and then Business School. The guides agree on Business School. They do not agree on the exact major.

Which major is best?

  • The Nerd Stash says to pick a business major, such as Marketing, Finance, or Economics.
  • Charlie INTEL lists Finance, Economics, Marketing, "or another business-related subject".
  • BitLifePro lists Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Marketing.
  • Touch, Tap, Play used Finance or Accounting in two CEO runs. It also says that these majors are not strictly necessary.

Finance and Economics are on almost every list. Pick one of them if you want the safe choice.

Do you need an MBA in BitLife?

The game guides do not use the word MBA. They use Business School. You go to Business School after university, in the same education menu. Charlie INTEL says that you enroll through the option to seek higher knowledge.

Can you be a CEO without Business School?

Maybe, but it is harder. Level Winner says that Business School improves your chances, and that CEO is still possible without it. The Nerd Stash treats Business School as the gate to corporate jobs. We suggest that you finish it.

How do you raise Smarts for university?

Study hard in every school year, and go to the library often. Our list of BitLife hacks that work has more ways to raise Smarts. Charlie INTEL also suggests Graduate School for more Smarts.

The corporate jobs lead to CEO. In the job list, look for jobs with the label Corporate. The Nerd Stash names Jr. Business Analyst, Operations Analyst, and Financial Analyst as start jobs.

Charlie INTEL says that Business School unlocks these jobs: Assistant Vice President, First Vice President, Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President, Managing Director, and President. It also says that almost every corporate job has three levels.

What is the promotion ladder to CEO?

The guides give different ladders. Here are three of them:

GuideLadder
The Nerd StashSr. Analyst, Assistant Vice President, Vice President, Executive Vice President, Managing Director, CEO
Charlie INTELAssistant Vice President, First Vice President, Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President, Managing Director, CEO
BitLifeProAssistant Vice President, Vice President, Executive Vice President, CEO or President

The order is the same in all three: analyst, then the vice president jobs, then the top job. The names in the middle change from guide to guide. Your game shows the next job when the company promotes you.

Are there other tracks, such as tech or fashion?

We found no guide that names a separate CEO track for tech, fashion, or banking. The guides that we read describe one corporate ladder. Other careers in BitLife have their own top jobs. For example, read how to become a doctor in BitLife or how to become a judge.

Keep your job performance at 100%, and stay at one company. These two rules are in almost every guide. The steps below add the details.

  1. Open your job and tap Work Harder every year. BitLifePro says to do it at least twice a year. Touch, Tap, Play says that a promotion matters more than a raise.
  2. Accept overtime when the game offers it. Touch, Tap, Play says that more hours raise your performance.
  3. Watch your stress. Touch, Tap, Play warns that more hours also raise stress, and stress can cause diseases such as high blood pressure.
  4. Stay at the same company. Gamezebo and Level Winner say that a move to a new company can cost you a promotion or two.
  5. Take part in company activities, and keep an active social life. Gamezebo and Level Winner both suggest this.
  6. Check the full-time job list from time to time. The Nerd Stash says that an application for a higher job there can save you several years.
  7. Do no crime. A record can close the corporate jobs to you.

Does God Mode help?

God Mode is a paid feature. It lets you edit the stats of a character, such as Smarts. High Smarts help in school. The guides do not say that God Mode makes a promotion come faster.

Plan for about 15 game years of corporate work, after 4 years of university and the years of Business School. The guides give different numbers:

  • Charlie INTEL: "at least 15 in-game years", with no shortcuts.
  • BitLifePro: about 12 to 20 years at 100% performance in the same company.
  • The Nerd Stash: several decades, often just before retirement.
  • Touch, Tap, Play: the vice president jobs need 10 or more years of experience. The Nerd Stash says 15 years for Assistant Vice President.

Keep your character healthy for the whole path. Go to the gym, eat well, and keep stress low. A long career is no use if your character dies first.

How much does a CEO earn in BitLife?

Charlie INTEL says that a CEO earns at least $190,000 a year. The other guides that we opened give no number. Your pay in the game can be different, because the game sets the pay for each offer.

Yes, with the Business Job Pack. BitLifePro says that the pack lets you start a company as its founder. With the Investor pack, you can also buy a company and get the CEO title at once.

A company of your own costs a lot of money. Level Winner says that the cheapest business to start is a food cart at $272,000. It suggests that you save about $2 million first.

The two ways give you a different game. The corporate path is a long climb with a salary. The owner path is a risk with your own money, and you make the decisions. Our guide to the Business update explains how to run a company. To see what the packs cost, read is BitLife free?

The Generous Boss Challenge is about a boss. Level Winner lists the goals. Pay your employees "Big Bucks". Keep your own salary under $100,000 for 10 or more years. Give bonuses of at least $250,000 in total.
