How do you rob a train in BitLife?
Be 18 or older. Go to Activities, then Crime, then Train Robbery. Pick a train and a departure time. The time must be the real time on your phone clock at that minute. If the times match, the robbery can work.
The clock rule is the whole trick. The game reads the clock of your device. A robbery at 4:20 PM works only when your phone shows 4:20 PM. Set an alarm one or two minutes before the departure, open BitLife, and wait.
Do not change the time on your phone to cheat. The BitLife wiki says that a changed clock or time zone makes the train run you over. It also says that the change can block train robbery for that character for good.
We checked these steps against the BitLife wiki and seven game guides on November 2, 2026. The newest guide is from 2024. Candywriter can change crimes in any update.
What are the train times in BitLife?
The game offers five departure times. Most guides list the same five:
| Departure | Real time on your phone |
|---|---|
| Sunrise | 6:00 AM |
| High Noon | 12:00 PM |
| 4:20 | 4:20 PM |
| Sunset | 6:00 PM |
| Midnight | 12:00 AM |
Gfinity is the only guide that lists Sunrise at 8:00 AM. It also says that Midnight shows as 11:00 PM in its game. Every other source says 6:00 AM and 12:00 AM. If one time fails for you, try the other one the next day.
Does the train matter?
No. The wiki says that the game shows three random trains. Destructoid, Charlie INTEL, and Gamer Tweak all say that the choice of train does not change the result. Only the time matters.
The train names change from game to game. Destructoid saw the Magnitude Express, the Northern Express, and the Western Condor Line. Gamer Tweak saw other names.
How do you rob a train successfully?
- Make sure that your character is 18 or older and is not in prison.
- Pick one of the five times from the table. Set an alarm on your phone one or two minutes before it.
- When the alarm rings, open BitLife. Go to Activities, then Crime, then Train Robbery. It is at the bottom of the list.
- Pick any train. Then pick the departure time that matches your phone clock now.
- Confirm. The game shows the result at once.
Even at the right time, the robbery can fail. The wiki says that there is a moderate chance of failure. The wiki rates the Bandit ribbon as based on luck for this reason.
Why did the train not come?
Your time did not match the phone clock. Gamer Tweak says that the game then shows a message such as "Unexpected Delays" or "Lousy Scheduling". Touch, Tap, Play says that you "missed the train". Wait for the next departure time and try again.
Why did I die when I robbed a train?
You probably changed the clock or the time zone of your phone. The wiki says that BitLife added this rule in February 2020. The train runs over a character whose player changed the clock. The wiki says there is no fix for that character.
Does God Mode help with train robbery?
Maybe. The wiki says that a God Mode character can specialize in crime. That makes crimes easier to do and to get away with. No guide that we read tests this on trains alone.
How much money do you get from a train robbery?
A lot, in every guide. But the guides give different numbers:
- Destructoid: $5 million to $50 million.
- Gfinity and Gamer Tweak: $5 million to $30 million.
- Touch, Tap, Play: $10 million.
- Charlie INTEL: a "hefty amount", with no number.
Gfinity adds that a big payout can count toward the Multimillionaire achievement. That achievement asks for $10 million in one life. For more ways to get rich, read our list of BitLife hacks that work.
How many times can you rob a train?
The sources do not agree. The wiki says that each character can rob a train successfully only one time. Destructoid says up to five times a day. Gamer Tweak says that you can try again after a failure. Try it in your own game, and expect the wiki rule.
Can you go to jail for robbing a train in BitLife?
Yes. Gfinity says that a failed robbery can mean a long prison term, possibly into old age. Gamer Tweak also says "jail for a long time". We found no guide that gives an exact sentence or an arrest chance.
If the police catch you, read how to escape prison in BitLife. A record can also close some careers. For example, the guides say that a record can stop the path in how to become a CEO in BitLife.
Crime also has an other cost in BitLife. Read BitLife karma to see how the game scores good and bad lives.
What do you get for robbing the midnight train?
The Going Anywhere achievement. Its goal is "Rob the midnight train." The wiki rates it Easy, with no purchase in the app. You must be awake at 12:00 AM for it, so set an alarm for 11:58 PM.
Which ribbon do you get for train robbery?
The Bandit ribbon. The wiki lists it as a secret ribbon, with the line "Live like an outlaw of old." A successful train robbery gives it. The wiki says that BitLife added Bandit in version 1.34 on iOS, on April 4, 2020.
The wiki adds a detail. If train robbery was your only crime, you can get Bandit instead of Thief. The Thief ribbon needs a pickpocket, a car theft, and a burglary, with at least 10 thefts. See all of them in BitLife ribbons.
When did BitLife add train robbery?
The wiki says that train robbery came in version 1.29, the Crime Update, on January 17, 2020. The patch note says "Train robbery! (yes, you read that right)". The same update added bank robbery, shoplifting, porch piracy, and juvie.
What other crimes can you do in BitLife?
The Crime menu has more than trains. The wiki lists these:
| Crime | How it works |
|---|---|
| Burglary | You pick one of three houses and play a short maze game inside. |
| Grand Theft Auto | You pick one of five cars to steal. |
| Shoplifting, porch piracy, pickpocketing | Small thefts. They can lead to larceny charges. |
| Train Robbery | A big payout, but only at the real time on your phone. |
For a crime life with a family, read how to join the mafia. Many BitLife challenges also use the Crime menu.
Want a life sim where a crime has people in it?
LifeSim is our game. It is a free AI life sim in your browser and on iPhone, set on a 3D map of the real Earth. It has no Crime menu and no train robbery.
In LifeSim, you do things in your own words, and the people of your city react. They remember what you did. If you want a fast life with a big payout in one tap, BitLife is the better fit.
