What the Shady trait changes in play

Sims with the Shady trait do not get permanent moodlets. Instead, they can get 12 custom moodlets that last 8 hours, or 480 Sim minutes, each. Most of these moodlets have a weight of 1 and push your Sim toward Confident, Angry, Happy, or Playful emotions.

One moodlet, called A New Perspective, gives an Inspired emotion with a weight of 2. This trait does not apply hidden multipliers, career pay bonuses, or moodlet replacements. Also, 7 interactions in the game check for this trait, such as Boast about Exploits and Guaranteed Entry.

Who gets the Shady trait and conflicts

You can give the Shady trait to Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder human Sims. It conflicts with the Idealist trait, so a Sim cannot have both at the same time.

You can pick the trait in Create a Sim or earn it through the Ask to Embrace the Shade interaction. To add it in Live mode, open the cheat console and type traits.equip_trait trait_Shady. This cheat does not require you to turn on testing cheats first.
