How do you die of killer chicken in The Sims 4?

Death by Killer Chicken

A Sim who keeps provoking a chicken after surviving its attack can be pecked to death. The chance is 9.09% per attack. With every condition that raises it, it reaches 100%. Safe: Servo, pregnant Sims.

Death by Killer Chicken is a chance death in The Sims 4 that requires the Cottage Living expansion pack. A Sim dies when a chicken attacks them a second time while they still recover from an earlier chicken attack.

The first chicken attack never kills your Sim. If you provoke the bird again before the attack moodlet wears off, the next attack has a 9.09 base chance to be fatal.

How to make it happen

  1. Provoke a chicken (Cottage Living) until it attacks.
  2. Provoke it again while Survived a Chicken Attack or When Chickens Attack is showing.
  3. An evil hen or evil rooster is far more dangerous.

How to avoid it

  1. Leave chickens alone after an attack, until the moodlet wears off.
  2. Type death.toggle false to switch death off.

The game never lets this death happen to: Servo, pregnant Sims.

These moodlets stop it before the end: Death-Proof, Total Immortal, Feeling Grim, Grimness Intensifies, Grim Overload, Grimbucha'd.

The ghost

A Sim who dies this way becomes a ghost with the trait Death by Killer Chicken. The game gives each death type its own ghost trait.

Every ghost type and its powers are on the ghosts page.

To bring the ghost back to life with a cheat, type traits.remove_trait trait_Ghost_AnimalObjects_KillerChicken. Removing its last ghost trait makes the Sim alive again.

To stop your Sims from dying at all, type death.toggle false (what death.toggle does).

How a chicken attack kills your Sim

To trigger this death, make your Sim provoke a chicken until the bird fights back. Surviving this first fight gives your Sim the Survived a Chicken Attack or When Chickens Attack moodlet. While either moodlet is active, provoke the chicken until it attacks a second time.

When the second attack happens, the game picks between one lethal outcome and two non-lethal outcomes. The lethal outcome has a base weight of 1, while each survival outcome has a base weight of 5. This gives a standard chicken a 9.09 base chance to kill your Sim per repeat attack.

What changes the odds and who is safe

Fighting an evil hen or an evil rooster makes a repeat attack much more dangerous. An evil chicken multiplies the lethal weight by 40 and one of the survival weights by 12. If a living Sim has the Chased by Death trait, the game multiplies the lethal weight by 9,999,999.

The Trash Nectar Funk moodlet slightly helps your Sim survive by multiplying one survival weight by 1.25. To stay completely safe, leave chickens alone until the attack moodlet fades. Sims with Death-Proof, Total Immortal, Feeling Grim, Grimness Intensifies, Grim Overload, or Grimbucha'd are also saved from dying.

The killer chicken ghost and resurrection cheats

When a chicken kills your Sim, they become a ghost with the Death by Killer Chicken trait. You can prevent this death in Live mode by opening the cheat console and typing death.toggle false. This cheat stops every death that runs through a death interaction.

If your Sim is already a ghost in your household, you can bring them back to life with a cheat. Open the cheat console using Ctrl + Shift + C or Cmd + Shift + C. Type traits.remove_trait trait_Ghost_AnimalObjects_KillerChicken to remove the ghost trait and revive your Sim.
