How do you die of mother plant in The Sims 4?

In StrangerVille, a Sim who offers themselves to the Mother Plant, or fights it alone again after losing, is consumed. Safe: Servo, pregnant Sims.

In The Sims 4, your Sim can die by getting Consumed by the Mother. This death requires the StrangerVille pack, also known as GP07. To cause this death, click on the Mother Plant and choose the Eat Me interaction. You can also lose a fight against the plant, then choose Attempt to Fight Again while alone.

This death is a certain outcome when you pick those interactions. The game does not give you a warning moodlet or a countdown timer beforehand. Once you start either interaction, the Mother Plant eats your Sim right away.

How to make it happen

  1. Choose Eat Me! at the Mother Plant (StrangerVille).
  2. Or choose Attempt to Fight Again alone.

How to avoid it

  1. Don't choose Eat Me! or Attempt to Fight Again.
  2. Type death.toggle false to switch death off.

The game never lets this death happen to: Servo, pregnant Sims.

These moodlets stop it before the end: Death-Proof, Total Immortal, Feeling Grim, Grimness Intensifies, Grim Overload, Grimbucha'd.

The ghost

A Sim who dies this way becomes a ghost with the trait Consumed by the Mother. The game gives each death type its own ghost trait.

To bring the ghost back to life with a cheat, type traits.remove_trait trait_Ghost_MotherPlant. Removing its last ghost trait makes the Sim alive again.

To stop your Sims from dying at all, type death.toggle false (what death.toggle does).

How the Mother Plant kills your Sim

You have two ways to trigger this death at the Mother Plant in StrangerVille. First, you can select the Eat Me interaction directly on the plant. This tells your Sim to offer themselves to the creature.

Second, your Sim can lose an initial fight against the Mother Plant. If you immediately select Attempt to Fight Again by yourself, the plant consumes your Sim. Both choices result in certain death with no random chance involved.

You will not see any timers or warning states before the death happens. Because the outcome is certain, your Sim dies as soon as the interaction finishes. To avoid this fate, simply do not select Eat Me or Attempt to Fight Again.

What protects Sims from the Mother Plant

No standard traits or Sim types have natural immunity to the Mother Plant. However, six specific states save your Sim from dying. These states are Death-Proof, Total Immortal, Feeling Grim, Grimness Intensifies, Grim Overload, and Grimbucha'd.

You can also prevent this death by using the cheat console in Live mode. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac to open the box. On consoles, press all four shoulder buttons at the same time.

Type testingcheats true first, then enter death.toggle false. This cheat stops every death that runs through a death interaction. It does not stop a Sim from turning into a ghost by other means.

The Mother Plant ghost and resurrection cheat

When the Mother Plant eats your Sim, they become a ghost. The game assigns them the Consumed by the Mother ghost type, which uses the trait_Ghost_MotherPlant trait. The internal tuning ID for this death type is 204,157.

You can bring this ghost back to life using a cheat in Live mode. First, make sure the ghost Sim is part of your active household. Open the cheat console and type traits.remove_trait trait_Ghost_MotherPlant.

Removing the ghost trait from a ghost in your household brings the Sim back to life. The game's trait tracker removes the ghost status and restores your Sim.
