How do you die of urban myth in The Sims 4?
Death by Urban Myth
A Sim who is told the urban myth again while still wondering if it's real dies of fright. Safe: Servo, pregnant Sims.
Death by Urban Myth is a death type in The Sims 4 that comes with the High School Years pack. A Sim dies of fright when you tell them the urban myth while they still wonder if it is real.
You cause this death by repeating the urban myth interaction before its warning moodlet fades. The death is certain once you trigger the interaction while the Sim has the active moodlet.
- CertainHigh School Years
How to make it happen
- Tell a Sim the urban myth (High School Years).
- Tell it again while they have Is the Myth Real?.
How to avoid it
- Don't retell the urban myth while Is the Myth Real? is showing.
- Type death.toggle false to switch death off.
The game never lets this death happen to: Servo, pregnant Sims.
These moodlets stop it before the end: Death-Proof, Total Immortal, Feeling Grim, Grimness Intensifies, Grim Overload, Grimbucha'd.
The ghost
A Sim who dies this way becomes a ghost with the trait Death by Urban Myth. The game gives each death type its own ghost trait.
Every ghost type and its powers are on the ghosts page.
To bring the ghost back to life with a cheat, type traits.remove_trait trait_Ghost_UrbanMyth_EP12Death. Removing its last ghost trait makes the Sim alive again.
To stop your Sims from dying at all, type death.toggle false (what death.toggle does).
How the urban myth kills a Sim
First, you tell a Sim the urban myth using the interaction from High School Years. This action gives the Sim a warning moodlet called Is the Myth Real?. The game uses the tuning name buff_Mischief_TeenPranks_UrbanMyth_Effect for this state.
Second, you tell the urban myth to the Sim again while Is the Myth Real? is still showing. Because this is a certain death, there is no random roll once you repeat the action. The Sim dies of fright right away.
How to avoid Death by Urban Myth
The simplest way to keep your Sim alive is to check their active moodlets. Do not retell the urban myth while the Is the Myth Real? moodlet is present. Certain active states also save a Sim from this death, including Death-Proof, Total Immortal, and Grimbucha'd.
Other states that save a Sim are Feeling Grim, Grimness Intensifies, and Grim Overload. You can also turn off death in Live mode by opening the cheat console and typing death.toggle false. This command stops every death that runs through a death interaction, though Sims can still become ghosts by other means.
The urban myth ghost and resurrection
When a Sim dies this way, they become a ghost with the Death by Urban Myth trait. In the game files, this trait is called trait_Ghost_UrbanMyth_EP12Death, and the death type uses tuning ID 285905.
You can bring a ghost in your household back to life using the cheat console in Live mode. and Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Then type traits.remove_trait trait_Ghost_UrbanMyth_EP12Death to remove the ghost trait and restore the Sim.
