How to fill out reports in The Sims 4

How to fill out reports in Sims 4: click a computer, then More Choices, Web, Fill Out Reports. See which Sims get it and why the option is missing.

Click a computer, choose More Choices, then Web, then Fill Out Reports. Only a Sim in the Business career gets this option. It is the daily task of the first ranks of that career.

  1. Make sure that your Sim has a job in the Business career.
  2. Click any computer. Your Sim does not need to own it.
  3. Choose More Choices.
  4. Choose Web.
  5. Choose Fill Out Reports. The option has a small briefcase icon next to it.
  6. Let your Sim stay at the desk until the task is complete.

Snooty Sims, Destructoid, GGRecon, and CharlieINTEL all give this same path. TheGamer gives a short form of it: open the Web tab, then choose Fill Out Reports. TheGamer also says that the option is not in the Career tab.

To see if the task is done, open the career panel at the bottom right of the screen. CharlieINTEL says to look at the daily task there.

The Business career has it. Every guide that we opened names only this career. We found no other career with a task of this name.

Snooty Sims says that ranks 1 to 6 have the task. After rank 6, the career splits into two branches, Management and Investment. The daily task then changes to business calls or to stock research and investing.

RankJob titlePay per hour (Snooty Sims)
1Mailroom Technician§16
2Office Assistant§20
3Assistant to the Manager§23
4Assistant Manager§35
5Regional Manager§53
6Senior Manager§75

The sources do not agree on the first pay rate. Snooty Sims gives §16 per hour for a Mailroom Technician. TheGamer gives §17. EA can change pay in a patch, so check the job panel in your game.

To join the career, read how to get a job in The Sims 4. TheGamer says that you can find the Business job on the computer or on the phone of your Sim.

Usually the Sim is not in the Business career, or you look in the wrong menu. Check these causes in this order.

  • Wrong career. Destructoid and CharlieINTEL say that you need a Sim in the Business career. Other Sims do not see the option.
  • Wrong menu. The option is under More Choices, then Web. TheGamer says that it is not in the Career tab of the computer.
  • Rank 7 or higher. Snooty Sims says that the task ends after rank 6. A Sim in a branch gets a different daily task.
  • The menu did not refresh. GamerTweak says that the option can stay hidden until the task starts. Wait for the Sim to leave the computer. Then click the computer again.
  • Wrong Sim selected. The menu shows the options of the active Sim. Select the Sim with the Business job before you click the computer.

How do you fill out reports on Xbox or PlayStation?

Use the same path: computer, More Choices, Web, Fill Out Reports. A player on the EA forums asked this question for the Xbox One version. We could not open that thread, so we do not know the answer that it got. None of the guides that we opened gives a different path for console.

One completed task per work day is enough. No source that we opened gives a number of reports. The guides describe it as one daily task that you finish before the next shift.

The sources do not agree on the time. TheGamer says that progress goes up in steps of 25%. Each step takes about 30 Sim minutes, so the full task takes about two Sim hours. Destructoid says that the Sim finishes in only a few moments.

Plan for the longer time. Start the task in the evening or in the morning before work. Do not start it just before the shift.

Do you need your own computer?

No. Snooty Sims says that it does not matter which computer you use. CharlieINTEL says that a library computer works. It also says that a neighbor can let you use one if your relationship is good. TheGamer names the library as a good choice for a Sim with little money.

Yes. All the guides say that the daily task helps your Sim get a promotion. None of them gives an exact amount.

  • GGRecon says that reports done outside work hours can raise job performance.
  • TheGamer says that the finished task gives a Focused moodlet called Numbers. The page says that it helps some skills, but it does not name them.
  • CharlieINTEL says that regular reports raise the chance of a promotion and of more money.
  • GGRecon says that each rank also has two skill goals. You need both of them and good performance for the next promotion.

GGRecon and CharlieINTEL also say that a good mood at work helps. Let your Sim sleep well before a shift. GGRecon adds a warning: do not use Work Hard when your Sim is in a bad mood. That lowers job performance.

For the skill goals, read our Sims 4 skills list. If you want to skip the climb, the career promotion cheats page lists the commands. GamerTweak gives the Business cheat as careers.promote business, after testingcheats on.

Your Sim can fill out reports at home on any computer. But the Business career itself has no work from home option in the sources that we opened.

The Snooty Sims guide to remote work lists freelance jobs, self employment, and the Style Influencer career. It does not list the Business career. A CurseForge mod adds a work from home option to the Business career. The mod page compares it to the base game Style Influencer career.

The mod is by NoelleBellefleur and had its last update on March 20, 2025. It gives two tasks for each home work day. The page does not mention Fill Out Reports. Mods can break after a game patch, so check the page before you install it.

We found no task called Write Report or Fill Out Reports in the Get to Work careers. The pages that we opened show other computer tasks instead.

Sims Community describes the first day of a Detective. It names three computer tasks at the station: Get a Case Assignment, Travel to Crime Scene, and File Crime Scene Evidence. The Doctor page from the same site names only research on a computer.

These are active careers. You go to work with your Sim and do the tasks on the work lot. Fill Out Reports is different. It is a daily task that your Sim does before the shift. For more about the pack, read our Sims 4 Get to Work guide.

Can a teen fill out reports?

We found no source that says so. The guides only cover adult Sims in the Business career.

Does a Sim need a pack to fill out reports?

None of the guides that we opened names a pack for this task. TheGamer calls Business a traditional career.

Is the Business career a good way to make money?

Snooty Sims says that rank 6 pays about §600 a day. For other ways, read how to make money in The Sims 4. To run a business of your own, read about Businesses and Hobbies.

What if my Sim is unhappy at the computer?

Fix the needs of your Sim first. GGRecon and CharlieINTEL both say that a good mood helps performance.

Are there other Sims 4 cheats for jobs?

Yes. See the full Sims 4 cheats list.
