The Sims 4 High School Years guide: school, prom, and graduation

High School Years is an expansion pack for The Sims 4. It came out on July 28, 2022. It adds an active high school, prom, graduation, and a new town called Copperdale. Wikipedia lists it as the 12th expansion pack.

We opened the EA pages, Wikipedia, and several guides on October 21, 2026. The facts below come from these pages, unless we name another source. We did not play the pack for this post.

The EA page says that the pack needs The Sims 4 and all game updates. If the pack does not show in your game, read how to install a Sims 4 pack.

You need a teen Sim and the pack. Sims Community says that you get a choice when school starts. You can go to school with your Sim, or you can send the Sim alone. If you go with your Sim, you control the teen at school.

What does a school day look like?

Sims Community gives this plan for a school week:

• The school day starts at 8am and ends at 3pm.
• Students get free time when they arrive. Use it to build skills or meet friends.
• Students have two classes a day, from Monday to Thursday.
• Friday is for exam preparation and exams.
• The homework is in the inventory of the Sim. Open the book to do it.

To see the class plan, click your Sim, select High School, then select Review Class Schedule. Sims Community also says that bad behavior can lead to detention. Frequent detention or bad grades can get a Sim expelled.

What clubs can teens join?

The EA tour names football, cheer, chess, and computer clubs. Sims Community says that Scouts need Seasons and the Drama Club needs Get Famous. To join, use the Business icon on the phone of the teen. You can also talk to a club member at school after classes.

Can teens pull pranks?

Yes. The EA tour lists pranks on whiteboards, lockers, and the school speakers. A good prank raises the Mischief skill. If someone catches your Sim, relationships suffer. Teens can also sneak out of the house through a window with a trellis ladder.

Prom is an event on the calendar at the Copperdale auditorium. GGRecon says that it runs from 7pm to 11pm. The EA tour says that Sims can go alone, with a date, with friends, or skip it.

How do you ask someone to prom?

GGRecon says that the option opens about one week before prom. Follow these steps:

1. Click your Sim and select Prom.
2. Select Create Promposal Sign.
3. Click the other Sim and use the Prom option to show the sign.

A promposal to a Sim with no relationship usually fails. A higher Painting skill makes a better sign. To build the friendship first, read relationship cheats.

How do you win prom royalty?

GGRecon says that your Sim must finish all the event goals and reach a gold rating. The goals show at the top left of the screen. Prom activities include dancing, the photo booth, a slow dance, and the vote for prom royalty. After prom, Sims can go to a party at the pier.

Graduation is a ceremony at the end of high school. The EA tour says that Sims choose to attend or not. A Sim with low grades gets no invitation to graduate.

Before the ceremony, your Sim can invite guests, choose an outfit, and buy gifts for friends and teachers. The EA tour says that past choices change the ceremony. Good grades matter, so build skills in free time. Read the Sims 4 skills guide for tips.

The pack has no cheat that starts prom. The main codes add traits and side jobs. First, open the cheat console and type testingcheatsenabled true. Sims Community lists these codes:

This part is our opinion, from reviews and player posts. High School Years is worth it if you play teens a lot. It gives teens a school, clubs, prom, and a graduation. Few packs give this age so much to do.

The reviews are mixed. Wikipedia lists a Metacritic score of 74. Dexerto gave the pack 6.5 out of 10. The review liked Copperdale and the Trendi app. It said that the classes are “relatively devoid of excitement.” It also said that many places in town are rabbit holes, where you cannot follow your Sim inside.

Players on Steam say the same. One player wrote that the pack “gets boring after a couple of days.” Another player wrote that it is “not as bad as it was when it first came out.” To compare packs, read every Sims 4 expansion pack or take the pack picker quiz.

Copperdale. The EA tour says that it is a small town on Lake LaSuli. It has a thrift store called ThrifTea and a pier with an amusement park.

Can teens go to high school without the pack?

Active school comes with this pack. Wikipedia says that the pack lets players control teens at school. The base game is free: read is The Sims 4 free.

Can a teen Sim get expelled?

Yes. Sims Community says that frequent detention or bad grades can lead to expulsion. The cheat page also lists an Expelled trait.

Can teens make money in High School Years?

Yes. Teens can sell outfits on the Trendi app. They can also work as a Simfluencer or a streamer.
