Sims 4 AI mods: how to talk to your Sims with AI

Yes. Fans made several mods that let you type to your Sims, and the Sims answer with an AI model. The main ones today are SimsAIChat, Sim+p2, and Boundless. All of them work only on PC or Mac.

These are third-party mods. EA and Maxis do not make them. The Sim+p2 page says that the project is not affiliated with EA Games, Maxis, or Player2. Some mods need an API key, and some need the Player2 app.

You read this on the LifeSim blog. We make a free life sim where every person is an AI character. We say where our game does not fit, too.

We opened the page of each mod below. The mods use different AI services, and each one has its own setup.

SimsAIChat: bring your own ChatGPT or Gemini key

This is the mod for the search “Sims 4 ChatGPT mod”. It connects the game to OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, or OpenRouter. The Sim answers from its traits, career, skills, relationships, mood, and current activity. The mod keeps a local memory of past talks. It also supports a group chat with up to 3 Sims. You click a Sim that is a teen or older and choose Chat with AI.

Sim+p2: a Sentient Sims version with Player2

The page says Sim+p2 is based on Sentient Sims by Gus Puffy. It adds Player2 as the AI service. The page says that the answers follow the personality, mood, relationships, activity, and backstory of each Sim.

Boundless: type, and the Sim acts

Boundless lets you type messages to Sims. The Sims answer in character. The page says that an answer can change a mood, change a relationship, or start an action. You use Converse with… on a Sim. With testing cheats on, Shift and click a Sim to see its memories and the settings.

Sims Multiplayer - AI & Chat: AI lines in place of Simlish

This mod replaces Simlish in social interactions with AI dialogue. You can let the Sims talk on their own, or choose Tell them something… to direct the talk. It also has multiplayer rooms. It is not a free chat box like the other three.

You need The Sims 4 on a computer, script mods turned on, and an AI service. The AI service is the part that changes from mod to mod.

• Sims 4 Community Library (S4CL). SimsAIChat needs it. The page calls it a mandatory dependency. The download now includes the S4CL files. The pages of Sim+p2 and Boundless do not mention S4CL.
• An API key. SimsAIChat needs a key from a supported provider. You put it in the settings of the app, with the gear icon. Sim+p2 can also use a Player2 key in place of the app.
• The Player2 app. Boundless needs it. Sim+p2 recommends it. Keep the app open while you play. The Boundless page says that you may need to restart Player2, even when it is already open.
• An internet connection. SimsAIChat lists it. The mods send game data to an outside AI service.
• A Patreon account. Sims Multiplayer - AI & Chat asks you to sign in with Patreon on the first run.

SimsAIChat also asks for Windowed Fullscreen. The page says that the chat window cannot show over exclusive fullscreen.

The mods are free to download. The AI part can cost money, and that depends on the service. No mod page that we opened gives a price.

• Your own API key. SimsAIChat is tagged Free on itch.io. You use a key from a provider such as OpenAI or Google. The provider sets the price, not the mod. The page calls Gemini the recommended choice for free, fast use.
• Player2. The Player2 site says it gives free models plus daily credits for frontier models. The Boundless page says that Player2 gives a free amount of energy that refills each day. It also says that more expensive models are smarter.
• A paid tier. Sims Multiplayer - AI & Chat gives the written dialogue free. The AI voices are part of a supporter tier on Patreon. The page gives no price.

Check the price page of your AI provider before you play. A long chat sends many requests.

Put the mod files in the Mods folder, turn on script mods, and start the AI service. The steps below come from the SimsAIChat page and the TheSimsTree install guide.

1. Back up your Mods folder and your save files. TheSimsTree advises a save backup before you add new content.
2. Download the mod from the page of its creator. Extract the .zip file.
3. Copy the .package and .ts4script files to Documents, Electronic Arts, The Sims 4, Mods. For SimsAIChat, also copy the two S4CL files.
4. Put a separate app, such as SimsAIChat.exe, in its own folder. Do not put it in the Mods folder.
5. Start The Sims 4. Open Game Options, then Other. Turn on custom content and mods, and Script Mods Allowed.
6. Click Apply Changes. Close the game fully and start it again.
7. Start the companion app or Player2. Enter your API key if the mod asks for one.
8. Click a Sim and choose the chat interaction of the mod.

They can be, but EA does not check them. You take the risk. Read the mod page, read the comments, and back up the Mods folder first.

Each page that we opened shows a risk to know about:

• The SimsAIChat app is unsigned. The developer says that Windows Defender or an antivirus may flag it. The developer calls this a false positive. We cannot confirm that.
• SimsAIChat sends your game data to the AI provider that you choose. The page does not explain how it handles the data.
• A commenter on SimsAIChat said that S4CL conflicted with other script mods. The developer added the S4CL files to the download as a fix.
• The Sim+p2 page gives no checksum for its 98 MB installer. Its key setup link goes to a third-party domain.

What do Sims modders say about AI-made tools?

In April 2026, mod creator TwistedMexi warned about a wave of new mod tools. Sims Community and TheSimsTree reported the warning. TheSimsTree says that many new tools come from creators with no track record. It says that people often build them with AI and do not understand the code.

In March 2026, TheSimsTree looked at an update to Control Any Sim Reborn. It found claimed features that did not exist and a disabled log system. Its advice: check who maintains the mod, read the comments, and do not update without a reason.

These articles are about mod managers and one control mod, not about the chat mods above. The advice still fits. Keep the mods that you trust. If you also use MCCC, read our MCCC guide before you add more script mods.

No. TheSimsTree states that the console versions on PlayStation and Xbox do not allow the installation or use of mods. AI mods are for PC and Mac only.

Some of the mods are narrower still. SimsAIChat runs on Windows 10 or 11 only. Sim+p2 ships as a Windows installer. Sims Multiplayer - AI & Chat lists Windows and macOS.

Yes. In LifeSim, every person in the city is an AI character. You type in your own words, and they answer. They remember what happened with you. You need no mod, no API key, and no extra app.

LifeSim is free to play, with no ads, no subscription, and nothing to buy. It runs in any browser at play.lifesim.com, and there is an iPhone and iPad app. You make a character, pick a real city, and live one life a day at a time. Each person has a job, a home, friends, goals, and a routine. You can also bring a Sims 4 household into LifeSim.

Where The Sims 4 with a mod wins

LifeSim does not fit here if you want build mode, Create a Sim, or expansion packs. The Sims 4 has all of them, and an AI mod adds chat on top. LifeSim has no mods. It has no console version, and it is single player. For the full comparison, read LifeSim vs The Sims.

• Sims AI Chat and Sims AI Dialogue on CurseForge. Both pages returned an error when we opened them.
• SimsGPT on ModDB. The page refused our request, so we do not describe it.
• The original Sentient Sims mod. We found only the credit on the Sim+p2 page.
• The real cost of an API key. The price depends on the provider and on how much you chat.
• The size of the free daily credits in Player2, and whether Player2 has a paid plan.
• The statement from EA on mods. The EA help page did not load for us, so the console fact comes from TheSimsTree.
• Whether each mod still works after the latest game patch. Check the mod page before you play.
