Piano skill

Reaching level 1 takes only 100 skill points. Moving from level 1 to level 2 requires 1,440 more points, bringing your total to 1,540. By level 5, you need 12,580 total points.

The point cost increases fast in the second half of the skill. Going from level 6 to level 7 asks for 10,140 new points, and reaching level 10 takes 21,120 points from level 9. You need 81,580 total points to master the piano.

Your Sim's current emotion changes how fast they learn. Being Very Inspired multiplies your skill gain by 1.6, Inspired gives 1.4, and Sad gives 1.2. Avoid practicing while angry, because Angry drops your multiplier to 0.8, Very Angry to 0.6, and Enraged to 0.4.

Specific moodlets multiply your learning speed even further, and multiple boosts multiply together. Artistic Endeavors gives a 3 multiplier, while Creative Spark gives 2.5. Fluttering Bliss and Inspirational Flowers both multiply gain by 2.

General skill boosts also apply to piano practice. The Snaggle Flustered boost multiplies skill gain by 4. Parental Guidance and Skilling on Up both give a 3 multiplier.

Early levels unlock practice options and songs like Melody of Mealtime at level 2. Level 3 adds Plunk for Inspiration and Write Lyrics, while level 4 unlocks Busk for Tips and Play Concerto. At higher levels, you unlock Serenade at level 6, Write Song at level 8, and License Song at level 9.

The Musician branch of the Entertainer career requires this skill for promotions. You need level 2 to move past career level 5, and level 4 to pass career level 6. Promotions out of career levels 7, 8, and 9 require Piano levels 6, 8, and 10.

You can skip the practice by using a cheat in Live mode. Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type testingcheats true, then enter stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_Piano 10 to reach the maximum level.
