Writing skill

You unlock level 1 with just 100 skill points. Reaching level 2 requires 1,440 more points, for a total of 1,540 points. The point cost rises with each new level you reach.

The requirements grow much larger in the middle tiers. Level 5 takes 5,280 points from level 4, bringing your total to 12,580 points. Level 7 asks for 10,140 points from level 6.

The biggest jumps happen at the very end of the skill track. Moving from level 8 to level 9 requires 17,100 points. The final push to level 10 takes 21,120 points, which brings your cumulative total to 81,580 points.

Emotions change how many skill points you earn. Being Very Inspired gives a 1.6 multiplier, while Inspired gives 1.4 and Sad gives 1.2. Avoid practicing while Angry, Very Angry, or Enraged, because these emotions drop your multiplier to 0.8, 0.6, and 0.4.

Specific moodlets speed up your progress even more. The Artistic Endeavors moodlet multiplies your skill gain by 3, and Creative Spark multiplies it by 2.5. Fluttering Bliss and Inspirational Flowers both offer a 2 multiplier.

General skill boosts also apply to Writing. Snaggle Flustered gives a 4 multiplier, while Parental Guidance and Skilling on Up both give a 3 multiplier. Active multipliers from emotions and moodlets multiply together for faster gains.

Early levels let you Self-Publish at level 2 and Sell to Publisher at level 5. At level 9, you unlock the Mystery recipe and can Submit Book Copy to Literary Digest. Level 10 unlocks the Biography recipe and the Declare Life's Finest Literary Work interaction.

Two careers ask for Writing skill to earn promotions. The Salaryperson career needs level 2 and level 3 Writing for early promotions. The Critic career asks for Writing up to level 8 in both the Arts Critic and Food Critic branches.

You can max out this skill right away in Live mode using the cheat console. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac, then enter testingcheats true. Type stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_Writing 10 to reach the maximum level.
