Fishing skill

Your Sim needs 100 skill points to reach level 1. Going from level 1 to level 2 takes 1,440 more points, for a total of 1,540 points. Each level after that asks for a larger amount of points than the level before.

The point requirement increases a lot in the middle levels. You need 5,280 points to go from level 4 to level 5, bringing your total to 12,580 points. Reaching level 7 takes 10,140 points from level 6, for a cumulative total of 29,920 points.

The biggest jumps happen at the end of the skill track. Moving from level 8 to level 9 requires 17,100 points. The final push to level 10 takes 21,120 points, which means you need 81,580 total points to max the skill.

Put your Sim in the Focused or Very Focused emotion before you build this skill. Focused multiplies your skill gain by 1.4, and Very Focused multiplies it by 1.6. Avoid Angry and Sad emotions, because they cut your gain multiplier to 0.8, 0.6, or 0.4.

Active moodlets and traits multiply together with your emotion to speed up learning. The Omega Brain Boost moodlet gives a 2 multiplier, and the Prepared for Fishing moodlet gives a 1.75 multiplier. You also get a 1.5 multiplier from the Dedication, Mental Boost, Nature Still Calls, and Perfected moodlets.

The Strong Mental Affinity trait adds a 1.4 multiplier to your skill points. General skill boosts work here too. The Snaggle Flustered boost gives a 4 multiplier, while Parental Guidance and Skilling on Up give a 3 multiplier.

Level 3 unlocks the Examine Water, Fish with Bait, and Talk about Best Bait interactions. At level 5, your Sim unlocks the Mentor interaction. Level 6 unlocks Boast about Biggest Catch, and level 7 unlocks Share Fishing Tips.

The Fisherman career asks for this skill to earn promotions. You need level 2 to get promoted out of career level 1. You need level 4 to get promoted out of career level 2.

You can set this skill in Live mode using the cheat console. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type testingcheats true, then enter stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_Fishing 10 to reach the maximum level.
