Swordsmanship skill

Each level of Swordsmanship requires more skill points than the one before it. You need 100 points to reach level 1, and 1,440 more points to reach level 2. By level 5, you need 5,280 points for that single level, bringing your total to 12,580 points.

The point requirements grow much larger in the second half of the skill. Moving from level 6 to level 7 takes 10,140 points. The final push from level 9 to level 10 takes 21,120 points, for a grand total of 81,580 points.

Emotions change how fast you gain Swordsmanship points. Practicing while Energized gives a 1.4 multiplier, and Very Energized gives a 1.6 multiplier. Avoid practicing while Sad or Very Sad, because those emotions apply 0.8 and 0.6 multipliers.

Traits and moodlets stack with emotions to multiply your speed further. The Competitive trait gives a 1.5 multiplier. Moodlets like Athletic Pick Me Up give a 2 multiplier, while Active Boost, Dark Chicken, Dedication, Midnight Meal, and Perfected each give 1.5.

General skill boosts also work on Swordsmanship. The Snaggle Flustered boost multiplies your skill gain by 4. Parental Guidance and the Skilling on Up boost each multiply your gain by 3.

Leveling up unlocks new crafting recipes and interactions early on. At level 2, you unlock 1 recipe, the Classic Longsword, and the Enroll in Swordsmanship Tournament interaction. At level 5, you unlock 3 recipes: the Bellacorde Rapier, the Dambele Saber, and the Verdemar Falcata.

Levels 6 through 10 do not gate any additional recipes or interactions in the game files. Also, no careers require the Swordsmanship skill for promotions.

To skip the grind, open the cheat console in Live mode with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type testingcheats true, then enter stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_Swordsmanship 10 to reach the maximum level. You can change the 10 at the end to any level from 1 to 10.
