How Video Gaming skill points scale by level

You reach level 1 with 100 points, and level 2 asks for 1,440 more points. The early levels go by fast, needing 3,700 total points to reach level 3.

The point cost grows much larger in the middle and late tiers. Going from level 6 to level 7 takes 10,140 points, which brings your running total to 29,920 points.

The biggest jump happens at the end of the skill track. You need 21,120 points to go from level 9 to level 10, for a grand total of 81,580 points.

Fastest ways to level up with boosts

Your Sim gains Video Gaming points faster while Focused or Very Focused. A Focused mood gives a 1.25 or 1.4 multiplier, while Very Focused gives a 1.5 or 1.6 multiplier.

Negative emotions slow down your progress. Feeling Angry, Sad, or Very Tense drops the gain multiplier to 0.8, and an Enraged mood cuts it to 0.4.

You can stack moodlets to multiply your skill gain even further. Moodlets like Among Geniuses or Omega Brain Boost give a 2 multiplier, while Snaggle Flustered gives a 4 multiplier.

What higher levels unlock and the skill cheat

Early levels unlock basic social interactions, game modding, and the Novice SimScuffle Tournament at level 3. Reaching level 6 unlocks the Pro SimScuffle Tournament, and level 10 lets you Mod Hillock II and Mod SimScuffle.

Several careers require this skill for promotions. The Tech Guru career asks for levels 2 through 6, and the Internet Personality branch of Social Media requires level 7 to advance past career level 8.

To max the skill right away, open the cheat console in Live mode with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type testingcheats true, then enter stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_VideoGaming 10.
