How Pottery skill points scale by level

Early levels require very few points to complete. You need 100 points to get level 1, and 1,440 more points to reach level 2. By level 5, you need 5,280 points from the level before, bringing your total to 12,580 points.

The point cost increases much faster in the second half of the skill. Moving from level 6 to level 7 takes 10,140 points, which is the first jump over ten thousand. Reaching level 10 takes 21,120 points from level 9, for a total of 81,580 points.

Fastest way to level up Pottery

Your Sim's emotion changes how fast you earn skill points. Being Very Inspired gives a 1.6 multiplier, and Inspired gives a 1.4 multiplier. Even a Sad emotion helps with a 1.2 multiplier. Avoid building the skill while Angry, Very Angry, or Enraged, as these emotions drop your multiplier to 0.8, 0.6, and 0.4.

Active moodlets multiply your skill gains even further, and several multipliers stack together. The Artistic Endeavors moodlet multiplies your gain by 3, while Creative Spark multiplies it by 2.5. You can also use Fluttering Bliss for a 2 multiplier, or Creative Boost, Dedication, and Perfected for a 1.5 multiplier.

General skill boosts also work on Pottery. The Snaggle Flustered boost multiplies skill gain by 4. Parental Guidance and Skilling on Up both give a multiplier of 3.

High level Pottery unlocks and skill cheat

Each level from 2 to 10 unlocks between 1 and 3 new recipes. At levels 2 and 3, you make simple items like the Planter Pot, Candle Lantern, and Cake Stand. By levels 7 through 10, you can craft the Tea Set, Raccoon Vase, Intricate Vase, and Romantic Sculpture.

Higher levels also unlock social and object interactions. Level 2 lets you Discuss Pottery Techniques, and level 7 unlocks Repair and Repair Ceramic. At level 10, you can Glaze with Unbreakable Coating or Glaze Ceramic with Unbreakable Coating from Inventory.
