You only need 100 skill points to reach level 1, which gives you 6 recipes like Bluebells and Daisies. Moving to level 2 takes 1,440 more points and unlocks 12 recipes, plus interactions for Begonia, Dahlia, Snapdragon, and Tulip. Level 3 asks for 2,160 additional points and adds 26 recipes, the Snowdrop interaction, and the Scent With interactions.

The point cost grows faster from level 4 onward. Level 4 requires 3,600 points from the level before and unlocks 14 recipes, along with Bird of Paradise and Orchid interactions. Level 5 needs 5,280 more points for the last 7 recipes, such as Midnight Paradise and Pink Orchids.

After level 5, you need much larger point totals with no new recipes. Reaching level 6 takes 7,200 points, and level 7 takes 10,140 points. The final climb to level 10 takes 21,120 points from level 9, bringing your total to 81,580 points.

Your Sim's emotion changes how fast you earn skill points. Being Very Inspired gives a 1.6x multiplier, while Inspired gives 1.4x and Sad gives 1.2x. Avoid practicing while Angry, Very Angry, or Enraged, because those emotions drop your gain multiplier to 0.8x, 0.6x, and 0.4x.

Active moodlets multiply together with your emotion to speed up your progress. The Artistic Endeavors moodlet gives a 3x multiplier, Creative Spark gives 2.5x, and Inspirational Flowers or Fluttering Bliss give 2x. General skill boosts like Snaggle Flustered at 4x and Parental Guidance at 3x also multiply your gains.

The Floral Designer branch of the Gardener career requires this skill for promotions. Moving up from career level 5 requires skill level 2, and career level 6 requires skill level 4. To advance past career levels 7, 8, and 9, you need skill levels 6, 8, and 10.
