Parenting skill

You start level 1 of the Parenting skill with just 100 points. Reaching level 2 takes 1,440 more points, bringing your total to 1,540 points. Each level after that asks for a larger amount of points than the level before it.

The middle levels show a steady climb in effort. Going from level 4 to level 5 takes 5,280 points, for a running total of 12,580 points. Level 6 requires another 7,200 points, which brings your total to 19,780 points.

The biggest point jumps happen in the final levels. Level 9 asks for 17,100 points from level 8, and level 10 takes another 21,120 points. By level 10, your Sim has earned 81,580 total skill points.

No emotions speed up the Parenting skill, and several negative emotions slow your progress down. Feeling Embarrassed or Sad applies a 0.8 multiplier to the skill points you gain. Being Very Embarrassed or Very Sad drops that multiplier to 0.6, while feeling Mortified drops it to 0.4.

To level up faster, use traits and moodlets that boost the Parenting skill. The Socially Gifted trait gives a 1.25 multiplier, Moderate Social Affinity gives 1.3, and Strong Social Affinity gives 1.4. Moodlets like Dedication, Perfected, and Playtime Flashback each multiply your skill gain by 1.5.

General skill boosts also work and stack together with other active multipliers. The Snaggle Flustered boost gives a 4 multiplier to every skill. Parental Guidance and Skilling on Up each multiply your skill point gain by 3.

The game does not require the Parenting skill for any career promotions. Instead, higher levels unlock specific interactions that check your skill level. At level 6, you unlock the Find Out What's Wrong interaction.

Reaching the maximum level of 10 unlocks two major interactions. At level 10, your Sim can use Super Efficient Infant Care and Super Efficient Newborn Care. If you want to skip the point grind, you can use a cheat in Live mode.

Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac. Type testingcheats true first to turn on testing cheats. Then enter stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_Parenting 10 to reach level 10 right away.
