Gardening skill

Your Sim needs 100 skill points to reach level 1. Going from level 1 to level 2 takes 1,440 more points, for a total of 1,540 points. Each new level asks for more points than the level before it.

The point jumps get much bigger in the second half of the skill. Reaching level 5 takes 5,280 points from level 4, and reaching level 7 takes 10,140 points from level 6. The jump from level 9 to level 10 asks for 21,120 points, bringing the total to 81,580 points.

Focused is the best emotion for building the Gardening skill. A Focused Sim gets a 1.4 gain multiplier, and a Very Focused Sim gets a 1.6 multiplier. Avoid learning while Angry, Sad, Very Angry, Very Sad, or Enraged, because those emotions lower your multiplier to between 0.8 and 0.4.

Active moodlets can multiply your skill gains even more, and several multipliers work together. The Farm to Table moodlet gives a 3 multiplier, while Abundant Gardening, Golden Chicken, Omega Brain Boost, and Tastefully Golden give a 2 multiplier. Prepared for Gardening gives a 1.75 multiplier, and Dedication gives a 1.5 multiplier.

General skill boosts also work on Gardening. Snaggle Flustered multiplies skill gain by 4. Parental Guidance gives a 3 multiplier.

Early levels unlock basic care, such as Water All at level 2 and Fertilize at level 3. Level 4 unlocks Take Cutting and Graft, while level 6 unlocks Weed All and Spray Area for Bugs. At level 8, your Sim can use Super Sell and Tend Garden, and level 9 unlocks Revive Plant.

The Gardener career requires this skill for promotions. You need level 5 to get promoted out of career level 4 before choosing a branch. The Floral Designer branch asks for up to level 8, and the Botanist branch asks for level 10 to get promoted out of career level 9.

You can skip the work with a cheat in Live mode. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac to open the console, then enter testingcheats true. Type stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_Gardening 10 to reach the maximum level right away.
