Romance skill

You only need 100 skill points to reach level 1 of the Romance skill. Moving up to level 2 takes 1,440 additional points, bringing your total to 1,540 points. Each rank requires more effort than the rank before it.

The point requirements jump significantly in the second half of the skill track. Reaching level 5 takes 5,280 points from level 4, for a running total of 12,580 points. Going from level 6 to level 7 requires 10,140 points on its own.

The final ranks demand the largest point totals. You must earn 17,100 points to advance from level 8 to level 9. The last push to level 10 takes 21,120 more points, which brings your cumulative total to 81,580 points.

Your sim's current mood changes how fast you earn points. A Flirty emotion multiplies your skill gain by 1.32, while a Very Flirty emotion multiplies it by 1.54. Negative moods slow your progress down.

Feeling Embarrassed or Sad applies a 0.8 multiplier to your points. Very Embarrassed and Very Sad drop that rate to 0.6, and feeling Mortified drops it to 0.4. Wait for bad moods to pass before you work on this skill.

You can stack traits and moodlets to multiply your points together. The Lovebug trait and Moderate Social Affinity trait give a 1.3 boost, while Strong Social Affinity gives 1.4. Moodlets like Dedication, Perfected, and Smitten Sounds each provide a 1.5 multiplier, and Snaggle Flustered gives a 4 multiplier.

Higher levels unlock new romantic interactions for your sim. You unlock Tender Neck Kiss at level 4, Scan the Room at level 6, and Steamy Make Out at level 7. Level 9 unlocks the Lovingly Dip Kiss, and level 10 unlocks the Aura of Flirtiness.

The Romance Consultant career requires this skill for promotions starting at career level 2, which asks for skill level 2. This pattern continues through both the Matchmaker and Relationship Counselor branches. Moving up from career level 10 in either branch requires level 10 in the Romance skill.

You can skip the grind by using a cheat in Live mode. Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC or Cmd + Shift + C on Mac to open the cheat console. Type testingcheats true, then enter stats.set_skill_level statistic_Skill_AdultMajor_Romance 10 to max the skill.
